That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Players who are playing the next week (the ones they want) won't show.

I think that is an excellent idea. The guys in the Superbowl certainly don't need the extra exercise. And the players are in better shape in January than February.

My choice is to cancel the pro bowl completely. But this change does sound like a slight improvement.

That's exactly what I was trying to add. I'm not sure why it didn't show up, but now I can't seem to edit it.

Anyway, that's my thought. Name the teams and be done with it. Nobody really wants to play in it. Nobody really wants to watch it.

Ziggy, they don't show up for the pro-bowl anyway.

The pro-bowl is something to get invited to, not to attend.

Its a little like how you enjoy getting passes from men, but maybe not so likely to take them up on the offer.

The loss of a half dozen pro-bowl candidates is not so important. Maybe more will want to play if it is sooner.

That is actually not the case. Since the Pro Bowl was moved to Hawaii the attendance is much improved than previous venues.

The Pro Bowl is a perpetual sell out and well supported by the State of Hawaii. Two problems exist: 1) NFL loses money on the game 2) poor tv ratings.

The Broncos owner, Pat Bowlan a part time resident of Hawaii always convinced the owners to keep the game in Hawaii. Players and families absolutely love Hawaii. Commissioner Taglibue was a great supporter of the Hawaii location.

Commissioner Goddell honored the contract but is looking to grow the NFL globally (NBA is the example). The format for Miami is an experiment. If it fails the Pro Bowl may try China, Japan, Australia or Mexico.

Moving the Pro Bowl is a huge loss for the Hawaii economy.

I find this hard to believe.

I looked at the brief Wikipedia article on last year's pro bowl and it sounds like a lot of no-shows:

Maybe there is somewhat better attendance in hawaii, but it's still spotty.

The pro bowl moved to Hawaii in 1980 and has been a sell out every year except one.

Visit the pro bowl this year and provide your thoughts.

You buyin' dinner? My company has a project going on in Hawaii. I could try to get sent there. (I gotta try harder to get sent places, though with my luck, I'll end up in Afghanistan or Sudan.)

Why do we even have a pro-bowl? I'm not aware of anybody who really cares about it. How about we just vote for an all-conference team, and then we don't bother will the silly all-star game with goofy rules.

'Cause the wives froze their asses off and have frostbite on their toes to support these bums and dammit, they want some beach and party time. Players smayers. It's for the wives and Driver's mom.

                          Dern Don.

I thought I was in charge of all dead bowl game threads.

"The Pro Bowl will be played one week before the Super Bowl in 2010 and both games will be staged in Dolphin Stadium, a person directly involved in the decision told The Associated Press on Monday.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the NFL has not announced the move, but Hawaii's governor and Honolulu's mayor both confirmed the situation later Monday.

"While I am disappointed the Pro Bowl likely will not be played in Hawaii in 2010, I respect the NFL's decision to play the post season all-star game in the same city as the Super Bowl, one week before the Super Bowl, on a one-year test basis," Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle said in a statement.

The Pro Bowl in Hawaii dies and no one mourns it's passing.

Travel costs are thru the roof.

Wonder how long U of H maintains it's football schedule?

Instead of the Pro-Bowl why don't they just skip that week off between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl??? The hype for the SB is bad enough but we sure as hell don't need 2 weeks of that crap.

I'm not talking about fan attendance. PLAYER participation.

Every year you hear about such-and-such-guy as "pro bowl guard", or "pro-bowl-safety." Then you find out he was just an alternate, and the really good guy couldn't be bothered to show up.

The pro-bowl has become a game among up-and-coming stars. The been-there vets would rather recover from the season, and who can blame them.
