  • Jagodzinski to be fired by BC?

Let me say that Jagodzinski pissed me off. He came back to the Packers like a conquering hero and ZBS zealot as offensive coordinator. He was gonna school our young OLine on the beauty and intricacies of the Gibbs ZBS. This was eventually be the basis for a fearsome Packer rushing attack.

Instead he left after one season and took a fat job with BC as the head coach. And now we are saddled with the ZBS, with coaches that have a half-assed understanding of that offensive scheme.

Now, Jeff Jagodzinski has been told he will be fired if he interviews for the head coaching vacancy with the New York Jets, which is scheduled for Monday, according to sources.

Jeff Jagodzinski has been head coach at Boston College the past two seasons.

Despite the threat from athletic director Gene DeFilippo, Jagodzinski plans to do the interview with the Jets, the sources said. Those sources said that in the event Jagodzinski is fired, BC would promote offensive coordinator Steve Logan to head coach.

According to the sources, DeFilippo first told Jagodzinski on Saturday that he would fired if he interviewed and then reinforced the school's position Sunday. Jagodzinski declined to comment when reached by ESPN.

BC spokesman Chris Cameron told ESPN's Joe Schad the school would have no comment. But another BC source said Jagodzinski informed his coaching staff of the development this weekend after at least two discussions with DeFilippo.

The Jets did not have a reaction or confirm they are interested in Jagodzinski, but ESPN and other news outlets have reported his candidacy.

Jagodzinski, 45, has been head coach at Boston College the past two seasons, with the team finishing first in the ACC's Atlantic Division each year. In 2007 the Eagles went 11-3, including a victory over Michigan State in the Champs Sports Bowl. This past season, BC finished 9-5 after losing to Vanderbilt in the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl.

Prior to coming to BC, Jagodzinski had worked as an NFL assistant since 1999. He was tight ends coach for the Packers from 1999-2002, then served in the same role for the Falcons in 2003 and '04 before moving up to be Atlanta's offensive line coach in '05. He then went back to Green Bay as offensive coordinator for the 2006 season before BC came calling.

Fuck you Jeff, I hope you do wind up out on your ass with no gig.

    Serves yer ass right.

    that is kind of nuts

    He wins conference twice

Normally I'd think they would bless him interviewing with the Jets if that is what he wanted

But they threaten to fire him if he interviews so apparently they did not grant permission to the Jets ?

Never heard of anything like this

I'm all about people bettering their position so I was fine with Jags going to BC.

The way our ZBS has been I might even welcome him back on our staff.
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

I was thinking the same thing, B. I'm willing to take just about anyone who knows what they're doing...

I saw this on PFT too. There has to be a backstory here. It could be because he is just two years into a program and colleges like to get their four years so they can evaluate the job and talent of the recruits. But this seems a step beyond that.

I wonder if he got an extension after year one or mid-way through year two?

Why wouldn't he do it they will have to pay him if they fire him, I am sure he wouldn't mind getting paid millions to do nothing if he does'nt get a job.

I have to say I was a little soured on Jags...he came in fire and brimstone, seemed kind of high and mighty with the press sometimes, then off to BC, his alma mater, right? The great love? And now it's off to the Jets for an interview, screw the BC job.

I get that it's a dream - NFL head coach. I'm just a little soured on the guy, maybe unfairly so.

But it does seem pretty sketchy, to bring him in for what seems an obvious attempt to lure Favre out of his near-retirement. His ol' buddy Jags from Green Bay.

If this plays out as such, I see the Jets sinking into the mire next year.

The guy who shows no loyalty to anyone, now has no loyalty shown to him?

                          Geez, how utterly unfair.

I'm with you KY. He left "unfinished business" here. He's leaving "unfinished business" at BC.
