That's pretty scary, to be honest. Specifically, I'm concerned about claims that Nolan's defensive calls tend to be both "timid" and "soft."

I thought we wanted a dynamic, aggressive defense. Why do we want Nolan?

Anyone want ot put money on the fact he ends up hiring someone that is on NON of the "lists" of people? I can still remember us going through the Head Coaching position, and we all moved McCarthy off the board And I could totally see him hiring some DC guy that is not a known commodity.

              Adding Nolan would be awful.
I would take 10 lesbian pandas over Sanders, so Nolan is a huge upgrade.
I would fuck a lesbian panda before I would touch Sanders or Nolan, so I think the panda would be an upgrade.

it's more the lesbian than the panda, but a carpet muncher's a carpet muncher regardless of the species. All they all need is a little hot beef injection to set them straight.

No please, i think its in our best interest to stay with the 4-3

greg williams, and Sean McDermott get my vote

That was Thompson's choice...not McCarthy's...so it speaks more to Thompson's selection process than it does McCarthy.

Can someone explain to me what's good about Nolan other than:
                            1) He's not Bob Sanders
                            2) He's a snappy dresser.

I'm really drawing a blank here. Anyway, in my inexpert opinion both Gregg Williams and Sean McDermott seem like vastly, vastly superior choices.

The big criticsm of Nolan in SF was his inflexiblity and tendency to repeat coverages, schemes, etc.

He called his version of the Big Nickle - "the Big Sub".

It was a 4-2-5 ( or also a 3-3-5 with a tweener LB roving around between line and LB). The big beef by the fans was you could tell exactly what the D was gonna do by their pre-snap technique. He also doesn't like to blitz a lot. He's a scheme/cover guy.

When he was canned in SF, there were a bunch of Whiner fans on PFT posting "No More Big Sub" like crazy.

I had to google around to figure out what that meant.

I like the guy. He knows 4-3 and 3-4 with other schemes to augment your talent. Sanders seemed stuck in one place, let's try a new guy and see if he can coach up some stops.

he's had success with NY and Baltimore; I like Williams as well

I'd be fine with McDermott but honestly besides all the write ups who knows what we are getting
