    Trey Smack - K - Florida

    Overview

Smack has a strong leg and can deliver beyond 50 yards at a high rate without having to drive balls with a lower trajectory. His repeatable process and consistent placement give him an above-average chance of making it in the league.

    Strengths

Consistent ball-striker with good lift and placement.
    • Made 77% (10 of 13) of his kicks from 50+ yards out.
    • Capable as an emergency punter if needed.
    • Good size with ability to cover and tackle on kickoffs.
    Weaknesses
    • Missed 47-yard kick in overtime loss to Tennessee in 2024.
    • High percentage of misses were off the right hash.
    • Missed three field goals in the first game of 2025, including 39- and 40-yard tries.

#Packers got the draft’s top kicker in two-time Groza semifinalist Trey Smack. One of just three FBS kickers to make FIVE 50+ yard field goals in 2025, he also made a 57 yarder in the 2026 @ShrineBowl
    .
A career 83% kicker, Smack is the ideal blend of accuracy with 55-60+ range.

If he starts making them, they will say he is laying the Smack Down... Top rated kicker with a good leg. I like the pick. Stop wasting 7th rounders on players that won't make this team and going up to get one of the best kickers in the draft. Maybe we won't lose more games because of our kickers.

I like having a kicker who goes by the name Trey. In a mediocre draft I suspect Gute saw little if any difference between late 7th round picks and guys who would be available as UDFA's.

            love it.

Also, I think we got a good class of UDFAs because we had so few picks.

A big fan of Smack's during the process was new Packers special teams coordinator Cam Achord, who Gutekunst said he leaned on heavily while evaluating the specialists.
This is the first big move by Achord. If it doesn't work out, this post can be move to the Fire Achord thread.

                  Not going to Lie

Last season I called for GB to select the Ole Miss kicker; I think I saw him boot several over 50's and I think he made one over 60 with ease.

I have to look him up and see where he landed.

I do love SMACK, ............however,....we don't need two dam kickers. We just paid McMannua $$$$$.

This is a bad pick if he doesn't beat out McManua.
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

There’s already an ole miss kicker on the roster. His name is McAnus. Did you witness his choke job in the playoffs? Put his head on a pike, on a spike, on a dike - figuratively, of course - for all I care.

If he makes the game winner to win the next Super Bowl for the Packers, Imma Smack off all offseason, to the tune of Taylor Swift’s 10 minutes long “All Too Well.”

Honestly, I enjoy smacking off to the tune of All Too Well.

He won't just be kicking in the fall in central Florida anymore. He'll be kicking on the Frozen Tundra in the dead of winter. Hope it translates!!!

We'll see how he adjusts for wind conditions, but a strong leg is a strong leg.

Gutekenst said something to this effect in his post-draft presser. This was not considered an especially great draft class, and this year's R7 talent was basically most year's UDFA talent.

Smack was the only kicker with a draftable grade by most "experts" and his college production is waaayyy better than Anders Carlson. The $1M bonus to McAnus was before they thought they'd draft this guy, and it's not a prohibitively large amount by GB standards (considering they paid Trevon Diggs half that). If Smack wins the job (he'll be given every opportunity to) they might be able to find a trade partner for McAnus; if McAnus wins it they can PS Smack. This sucks for the substitute teacher Havrisik the most.

I'm fine with the pick. GB didn't win games vs. CLE, DAL and CHI because of kicking last year alone, and they have lost in the playoffs numerous times recently because of it. Hanging onto McAnus (who is a mediocre-to-good kicker at best) just because of the Anders nonsense is not reason enough to keep him.

I just wonder what they'll do if both McManus and Smack are both lights out in training camp and preseason. I think McManus was almost perfect last preseason.
