Apparently Smack could've had number 13. I think it would've been cool if he'd taken that. McClellan needs a new number though. So does The Dentist. There are 32 teeth in the adult human mouth, and 28 if the wisdom teeth are taken out. Too bad he couldn't have one of those numbers.

Moving beyond numbers to nicknames, I've already got "General" McClellan, and Jager Meister. You guys have coined The Dentist, and god forbid Cisse ends up "Sissy," so let's get to work on those nicknames for the each of these draftees.

I don't look at the Sherman punter trade-up ANYTHING like the K pick. Shit, we basically used 2 7th round picks to pick a K, who actually win and lose games regularly. Who cares? 2 7th rounders that woulda been shit probably anyway. The trade up for the P, now that was COMPLETE idiocy.

I thought the Packers losing out on the 1st overall pick - and the rights to draft Aikman - with a meaningless late season victory and then taking Mandarich over the likes of Neon Deion, Sanders and Thomas is the worst draft fuck up in Packers history. No?

Sherman wanted a punter who could boom punts in the tundra. Thought Sander could do it. Sherman erred, no doubt, but the draft has always been crapshoot anyway..

There's a difference between a crap-shoot and crappy shooting. Trading up in the 3rd round for a punter who fails is seriously bad scouting and strategy. If McClellan fails and Big Citrus succeeds, it's a bad choice, but the strategy is at least sound. The Packers do occasionally find decent players in the 7th round (Walker and Valentine in recent years), but more often than not it's just a guy who gets cut that year or next. If this kicker fails, it's annoying but not a huge loss. Plus, several of the players they might have chosen in the 7th round were picked up as FA's, so the loss is even less.

My least favorite draft move (in my short fandom) was trading Matt Hasselbeck to the Seahawks so we could move up in the draft. We picked Jamal Reynolds (#10) and Torrance Marshall (#72), and they picked Steve Hutchinson (#17).

It's a tough call between those two. But going 2-14 gets a coach fired even if it is for getting a franchise QB, and Manwich was at least highly (if mistakenly) regarded. Campbell, on the other hand, had good numbers but lacked an NFL arm. Starr just ignored his scout's opinion, just like he did when a scout pleaded with him to pick Joe Montana. Sigh.

But of course, once they did have that second pick, choosing Mandarich, who was rumored publicly to have a roid problem, was a huge, huge mistake. Cripes, they could've picked a Hall of Famer from the three players Tank listed above.

Starr drafting Campbell was worse as it set this team back forever. Trading for John Hadl and giving up a boatload of picks was also right up there with the worst of the "Doh!" moments.
