Heartbreak for Japan. Give up goal in extra time to lose to Brazil 2-1 after leading at halftime.

I guess. But there are going to be a few like that. Mostly the additional teams have fought like hell.

Germany loses to Paraguay in shootout. Biggest upset so far. Germany has failed to reach round of 16 since winning it all in 2014. Big one tonight between Netherlands and Morocco. Before the World Cup started, Morocco and Netherlands were ranked 7 and 8 in the FIFA world rankings.

It’s called the World Cup, ain’t it? Make it a true World Cup and invite every nation to participate. Single elimination tournament. If Vatican City prefers not to be embarrassed by, say, France, it ain’t gotta sign up. If there’s an odd number of sign ups, allow the United Kingdom to play. Would make great Cinderella stories.

Technically, the losses were my “winnings.” Was up 15k at the high point. Not in the red (yet?) but the current “downswing” has decreased the winnings to a puny 4k.

            I am demoralized beyond fuck.

Gambling ain’t fun when you lose. Prolonged losing can cause demoralization.

Did anyone see Micah Parsons in Dallas watching the Norway vs. Ivory Coast game?

The German team has not been quite right since winning it all in 2014. I don't know exactly what the issue is - maybe the game has changed, and that German mentality - patient, slow, relentless - the equivalent of the NBA half-court grinding style - is just not working any more.

Yes true observation. It would be nice to see them good again.

France are clearly the team to beat. What we need now are some goal scoring contenders, like the U.S or maybe Mexico to come on strong now.
                      Anyone but England please.

France looks awesome. I think they'd be a top 10 team without Mbappe. With him I'm not sure if they're beatable.

If USMNT beats BIH, their next game, perhaps vs Belgium, would be in Seattle. That might be the loudest crowd to view a soccer game ever.

If Freeman did a Lambeau leap after he scored it would be cool.

Might be the first time I have seen the US all but dominate a good side, get a red card and play even with 10. Suddenly these guys can find the back of the net.

If Dest can find his game with these teammates, they could light it up.

Losing Balogun sucks, but I think they can play with a pace that will bother Belgium.
