Last meeting: October 16, 2022. Jets defeated the Packers 27-10 at Lambeau. Jets defense sacked Aaron Rodgers 4 times and held the Packers to 66 yards rushing. Breece Hall rushed for 116 yards.

Jets come into the game 1-0, having defeated the Tennessee Titans 23-10. Jets defense held the Titans to 195 total yards and sacked Cam Ward 3 times. Geno Smith completed 19 of 24 passes for 215 yards. Breece Hall rushed for 102 yards and 1 TD.

Most will not. Jets blitzed on 45% of plays Sunday. More pressure coming for the Packers to have to deal with.

This is a statement game - for Matt LeFleur. If his offensive line stinks up the joint again because they can't get their blocking assignments right on blitzes, then this season is going to be long and ugly.

Its going to take more than one game to get the experience to fix some of the protection problems. Think more mid-season.

I'm pretty sure our O Line will stink up the joint again ....... and we will win anyway - as we shoulda/woulda except for rotten biased officiating last week.

They have to make adjustments now. Yes some things will take time, but they need to start having better plans for the blitz and hot reads. Get that ball out on a 1-step drop to the guy who is uncovered. I know they tried once to Reed that was thrown behind him, but they should have kept trying. This week, at least half the practice should be devoted to blitz pickups and hot reads.

A lot depends on the blitz design then. If you send someone who has coverage assignment and don't cover it immediately, then that guy might be open.

But my impression was that they were covering the short stuff reasonably well. Love had more success getting deep and sending medium to long passes in while they were scoring through 3 quarters. Not entirely sure wht changed after that as I was at the Brewers game and couldn't watch it all.

Not better.

I'm not saying we should be impressed. I'm saying these things will take time to fix. No one is quite as effective as Flores at blitzing that often, so I expect a better effort with the Jets.

But the end of the game downturn has been going on for quite some time. I don't expect that to get fixed anytime soon. I'm torn on the explanation. One the one hand we have seen it throughout La Fleur's tenure even in the playoffs with Rodgers.

But on the other hand the one explanation I have that fits is that this team is outclassed on talent and scheme gets them the lead and then the other team adjusts and the Packers are left with not enough of a player edge. This gets better with Parsons, but even he did not solve it last year.

Remember the all-white starting Yokozunas of Bak, Sitton, Lindsley, Lang and Bulaga? This year’s Yokozunas can’t fucking hold that all-white OL’s jockstrap. I miss that line as much as I miss J-Mike Finely.

I still ascribe or subscribe - which word is grammatically correct, Prof Fritz? - to the notion that you don’t use premium picks on Yokozunas, but the game last week has me stressed out about the current state of the milksop Yokozunas. Hades-forbid, this season could be a carbon copy of Ted Thompson’s first season as GM. Recall how Thompson dismantled the outstanding OL Wolf built - and Sherman kept intact - by getting rid of Wahle and Rivera? Klemm and Whitticker were abominations!

This season’s team appears full of Klemms and Whittickers. The guards suck. Morgan sucks. Zack Whatever needs to go back to being Zach Tom cos Whatever sucked harder than my gay friend in week 1.
