Stenavich is a better line coach than OC. Butkuss should not a coach at all. Three years of different players and always the same issues. Since Sten I assume would not take a demotion, you'd have to do a complete reboot.

Pretty sure that is why they hired the consultant on the O line. Had to be a compromise on the job the current coach is doing. I'm not sure its helping yet. Though there was much less confusion this week.

Dani Dennis-Sutton also had a pretty nice day. He played 40% of the Packers defensive snaps and, while the box score numbers aren’t eye-popping (2 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles) some of the underlying numbers are very good. He had a 29.4% pressure rate and an average time to pressure of 2.4 seconds. That pressure rate was good for 4th overall in week 2 among players who played at least 25 snaps. He has looked really impressive so far this season.

Lukas Van Ness had himself a day, man. On the day, he had 5 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles and 3 tackles for loss (including 1.5 sacks). As a pass rusher, he had a 23.3% pressure rate, with an average time to pressure of 2.6 seconds. His 3 tackles for loss has him tied for the Week 2 lead in that category with Will Anderson, Elijah Ponder and Nick Herbig. His 7 pressures has him tied for 4th this week and his 3 stuffed runs has him tied with Will Anderson for the lead in week 2.

A win's a win, and I'm glad they won, but even a "W" can't paper over the problems this team has.

I listened to the game on Sirius XM, and the Jets' announcers kept saying, over and over, how incredibly undisciplined the Packers were (thirteen accepted penalties, I think, plus the five fumbles). They also remarked on the porousness of the offensive line. LeFleur's game management continues to puzzle as well. That was an ugly a win as there could be.

On the plus side, LVN and Edgerrin Cooper look like real talents. Cisse, too. The safeties are good, though Mckinney is making more mistakes now, it seems. Matthew Golden is emerging. Special teams looking better than they ever did under Bisaccia.

But the offensive line is a disaster. A disaster. Morgan, in year three, should be more settled in - he should be plug-and-play-and-forget at this point, but he's still struggling. Banks is completely a Guter disaster. What a terrible signing. Monk seems suited to being a backup. Bako-Bewele - can't fault Guter on that. He signed his best offensive lineman to a second contract. Then the guy got hurt. It happens. But Rhyan is mediocre at center and maybe, just maybe, Tex was right about Josh Myers as center.

Yet, if LeFleur had left Elgton Jenkins at left guard and developed Rhyan as his center, we wouldn't have the Banks mess. And had he left Belton at primarily one position, would Belton be a better player than he is right now?

There's plenty of blame for everyone, but I aim most of mine at LeFleur. Thirteen penalties? And what, twelve last week? And the lack of development of the offensive line, all this shuffling guys around all the time.

I hate to say this, but it's true: this team feels more like the early 80's teams, where you had some talent but a rag tag, disorganized, undisciplined series of teams. Now I *hope* the team can get this all straightened out, but that hope seems more like wishful thinking than real possiblity.

Waste of money....technically. Bad contract....no. He was healthy when he signed it. He is a stud when healthy. You can't predict injuries in all cases.

Based on grades from Pro Football Focus, here are the best and worst players from the Packers’ Week 2 win over the Jets:

Top 5 offense

• TE Mark Redman: 66.9
• WR Matthew Golden: 66.6
• RG Jacob Monk: 62.3
• LT Jordan Morgan: 57.8
• LG Aaron Banks: 55.0

Redman earned an excellent 76.6 run blocking grade while playing 15 run-blocking snaps. Golden caught four passes, gained 32 yards after the catch, averaged 2.0 yards per route run and drew two pass interference penalties, although he did have a drop. Monk allowed only one pressure (a hurry), but he was below average as a run blocker and committed a penalty. Morgan had a 76.2 pass-block grade, but he gave up a sack and committed a team-high three penalties, including a false start. Banks was excellent as a pass-blocker (82.3) before exiting after 22 snaps.

Top 5 defense

• EDGE Lukas Van Ness: 81.2
• S Evan Williams: 77.2
• DB Javon Bullard: 76.6
• EDGE Barryn Sorrell: 74.1
• LB Edgerrin Cooper: 65.8

Van Ness created six pressures, including two sacks, and his seven tackles on defense were all considered stops, or failures by the offense, including the fourth down stop. Williams made seven tackles without a miss, had two run stops and gave up just one completion into his coverage, and his pass breakup in the fourth quarter was a huge play. Bullard broke up two passes and led the team with four run stops. Sorrell had two pressures, including a sack, and he was in a run stop. Cooper had a sack, eight tackles without a miss and five total stops, but he gave up four catches for 71 yards into his coverage, hurting his grade.

Bottom 5 offense

• RB Chris Brooks: 42.5
• LG Donovan Jennings: 45.4
• TE Tucker Kraft: 47.5
• WR Christian Watson: 48.4
• TE Jonnu Smith: 50.0

Brooks had a 30.0 pass-blocking grade over five protection snaps, and he dropped a pass and turned four rushes into only 11 yards. Jennings was good in pass pro but earned a 39.0 run blocking grade, the worst on the offensive line. Kraft ran 29 routes but caught only two passes, and he had a fumble and a holding penalty. Watson dropped three passes, turned 10 targets into only four catches and struggled as a blocker, missing at least two blocks. Smith wasn't targeted and struggled as a blocker.

Bottom 5 defense

• DL Jonathan Ford: 29.8
• CB Keisean Nixon: 41.2
• DL Chris McClellan: 44.9
• DL Devonte Wyatt: 49.9
• DL Karl Brooks: 55.4

Ford earned a 29.8 run defense grade and a 28.1 tackle grade across 31 snaps. Nixon gave up seven catches on eight targets into his coverage for 76 yards, and he committed two penalties. McClellan didn't have a pressure over 19 pass-rush snaps and struggled against the run. Wyatt produced nothing more than a hurry on 30 pass-rushing snaps. Brooks had two pressures and was good against the run, but he missed a tackle on a would-be sack.

Special teams


Skyy Moore stole the show, creating a 63-yard punt return and a 43-yard kickoff return. Evan Williams had two tackles covering kicks or punts and earned the top special teams grade at 77.0. Kamal Hadden, Dani Dennis-Sutton and Chris McClellan had penalties while on special teams. The Packers did not miss a tackle covering kicks and punts. Trey Smack made both of his extra points and both field goal attempts (both under 40 yards) during a rainy day at MetLife Stadium. Punter Daniel Whelan had a net punting average of 49.8, with three punts downed inside the 20, and the three punts returned netted only five yards.

Quarterback play

• Jordan Love: 54.1

PFF charted Love as being under pressure on nine of his 32 dropbacks, or 28.1 percent. He completed only one pass for 18 yards and took three sacks on nine pressured dropbacks. Love didn't have a big-time throw and had another turnover-worthy play (fumble). Receivers dropped five of his passes, so his adjusted completion percentage was 75.0. When kept clean, Love completed 15 of 23 passes for 126 yards and two scores, and his passing grade was 68.8. He got the rid of the ball in 2.03 seconds on average when kept clean. On passes of 20 or more yards downfield, Love was 0-for-3.

Stat to know


The Packers committed 18 total penalties, including declined or offsetting penalties: nine by the offense, six by the defense and three by the special teams. Penalties factor heavily into PFF's grade, at least historically, so 18 penalties was a big reason why the Packers graded out so poorly in this game.

This was stressful game for sure. At the beginning, I was thinking damn, charity for the other team again by the God damned officials,ust like the damn Vikings game - the Bullard taunting call, etc., but as it went along, it wasn't as bad.

The question is, did we barely struggle to beat a crap team? Or did we beat a fairly decent team that seemed really motivated at their place? I tend to go with the latter. The Jets D seemed distinctly better than what we saw against the Vikings. Their QB always seemed to wriggle out of sacks and make good decisions. And they had some quality RBs and receivers, as much or more than what we faced in Week One. And the team the Jets beat in Week One played the Eagles tough in Week Two.

Van Ness looked like a star - I hope he can continue that against other opponents. Cooper,. of course IS a star, and Franklin showed more quality than what I remember from Quay Walker. Cisse looks like a quality starter. I was just starting to think Nixon had gotten good - I even commented to my wife that I hadn't even heard his name mentioned - a good thing for a Corner. Then they started picking on him, and he turned to shit - predictably. Gannon seems like a definite upgrade as DC. However, I wish he wouldn't leave his Corners, especially Nixon, on an island so much. We had way too many "near misses" of blitzes that did not sack the QB, leaving holes on the back end. What's wrong with Xavier McKinney this year? I thought the Gannon D was supposed to put him in position for some picks. Not only has that not happened, but McKinney has disappeared a lot an gotten beat in coverage at least a few times. I want to see more use of Denis-Sutton. Also, Ford is an upgrade in the middle of the line than what we had last year.

On offense, I'm not confident yet in Golden. He's in the Doubs role, and IMO, he hasn't played to the quality Doubs played with - but it's still early. I want to see Sturtevant on the field on offense. He was great on Special Teams. Also a shout out to Hadden. I actually had to look up, who was that The Maze (damn, the computer keeps changing it when I type The Maze to "The Maze" - WTF is that all about?) - DAMN it did it again!) doing so good in coverage.

As for all the fuss about the O Line, it did kinda suck, but it didn't suck any worse with the replacements in the game (I like Belton), and of course we won the game anyway even with the O Line mediocrity or worse - predictably IMO.

It also needs to be said, THE BEARS STILL SUCK! Somebody claimed last week that they were better than the Packers ........ yeah right to that hahahaha. It looks also like they might be on their way to keeping up their tradition of ruining a promising QB.

Dude, the way he knifed in on that fourth and one to pull the back down from behind? Pretty nice play. I saw him getting chipped at least once. The O was having to account for him.
