I think we are underestimating how good of a coach MiLF is. I was pissed about the blown leads and allowing his team to be soft, but the man flat out can design plays. Love is good, don't want to diminish him, but he is throwing to a lot of open guys. And don't forget, we thought Rodgers was washed up until MiLF came along and he returned to MVP form. The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

You need to find and watch Love's sneak for a TD. Rhyan and Glover work Kenny Clark out of the picture.Originally posted by bobblehead View Post
Busy day for me, but I wanted to stop in to say that if Sean Rhyan doesn't have a PFF grade of about negative 6 then I have no use for their rankings. He was simply awful. If Burton isn't better than that, then I missed something in his tape or for some reason the NFL speed is just overwhelming to him. Hell, I'm not convinced Monk would be worse at center.
Edit: I hadn't scrolled down enough to see Joe posted the PFF already. Seeing the grades I'm not sure I have any faith left in their system.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Sometimes the run blocking isn't as bad as it is made to look. Lloyd needs to run inside here. https://x.com/BillHuberNFL/status/21...251867/video/1I can't run no more with that lawless crowd

Absolutely agree. It's not great, but it's not as bad as the running game looks. On that play, Lloyd had a crease to cut back into - between Glover and Belton. He'd have gotten three, maybe four. I thought one of the appeals of Lloyd was that he was quick and also built like a damn bowling ball - 5'-9" and 220. I heard Stenavich say that it takes time to get your groove back after being out for so long, but is that the case or does Lloyd have no vision, or is he choosing not to go through the creases? Does he need a four-foot-wide-hole to choose to go north and south?Originally posted by Joemailman View PostSometimes the run blocking isn't as bad as it is made to look. Jacobs, even with all his mileages, is light years better than these guys."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

MLF is such a bad play caller it hurts.Swede: My expertise in this area is extensive. The essential difference between a "battleship" and an "aircraft carrier" is that an aircraft carrier requires five direct hits to sink, but it takes only four direct hits to sink a battleship.

Am I missing the joke here? He's got maybe the worst offensive line in the NFL. Without Jacobs he has probably the worst group or running backs. His receivers lead the NFL in drops. Playcalling is the least of their problems.I can't run no more with that lawless crowd

I have been critcal of The Flower in the past, and I do agree with PB that he goes into turtle mode a little too quickly, though I did not see that so much in the Cowboys game, probably because he knew he'd never get a first down with that run game. However, I agree that playcalling is the least of the problems at the moment. But getting his receivers to hang on to the ball is on him. The offensive line mess is partly on him, partly on Guter. But the playcalling is the least of their problems right now - I agree with you there. I actually think his playcalling has gotten better since he's had no running game to speak of.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostAm I missing the joke here? One of the criticisms of Lloyd coming out of college was average vision. I think we have all seen that he is that guy. I also don't really see that "burst" that we heard for the last few years. I see a typical #3 running back, everyone now and then will flash, but someone that you could never trust in a bigger role.

I haven't seen the burst this year that we saw on the rare occasions he was on the field in the past. Seems like maybe either he's not the same guy physically, or he's holding back mentally due to fear of reinjury.Originally posted by Sparkey View PostOne of the criticisms of Lloyd coming out of college was average vision. One of my gripes when we drafted him. There are a lot of instinctive runners out there that run a 4.6. They play the position better than the thoroughbreds. Kenny Gainwell was available (again) and Gutes simply has no interest in that little guy. Lloyd....much better.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostSometimes the run blocking isn't as bad as it is made to look.
