I am going to go ahead and say I was correct in my assessment of half wit as a not that great defensive coordinator. Gannon isn't working with any better talent, but he is certainly getting better results.

Love's interception not entirely his fault:

Golden had an option route that is supposed to be a slant against the WILL. The RB possibly shouldn't have been in the backfield, which held the MIKE in the center of the field, possibly in the way of a slant.

They got the matchup they wanted (WILL against a WR) but not quite the route. This is the same play Davante ran against Preston Smith for big yardage a few years ago.

So the Lions look like an offensive machine with a defensive limp. This ought to be a good one. But I'm concerned for Love's health here, as Hutchinson and Wonnum have big sack numbers, and Hutchinson has shown he's not afraid to take a cheap shot.

Areas shaded pink, including Alaska and Hawaii will get Green Bay at Detroit. Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady with the call.
Areas shaded purple will get Los Angeles Rams at Las Vegas. Chris Myers and Jonathan Vilma with the call.

Hafley is a good DB coach and decent defensive mind. Gannon is a better DC. Gannon's been able to better scheme around injuries IMO.
Getting Zaire and a new LB coach has helped.

Maybe it's because of Joe Barry, but I don't think Hafley was bad. I'd put him at fair-to-good. I do think the defensive coaching changes from Gannon on down are an improvement though.
Now if they would shake up the OL coaching...

Detroit is beat up and their defense has looked bad, but they are coming off a bye and Campbell is a psycho. They might get Brian Branch back, FWIW.
Gibbs is the engine, and he's finally learned pass pro so it will be interesting to see Gannon's game plan. I'd assume they want to go after Goff.

Divisional games are a coin flip, and this is in Detroit so who knows. Getting to 5-2 would be huge for this team IMO.

I like the way Gannon's D has evolved - the pass rush, disguised blitzes and all. It worked pretty well against Dak, but his mobility allowed him to get the pass off most of the time. I'm thinking the immobile Goff will be even more affected than Dak was. The Cowboys probably shoulda run it more against us. Detroit with Gibbs may do that, and Gannon has to be able to shut it down.

On offense, I HOPE LaFleur continues to be more pass first, even if he has Jacobs back. That has been and will continue to be the key to success.

The Packers are a better team than Detroit and should win.
