With as much as Love has been getting hit, it was only a matter of time before he ended up on the injury report.

You've really got a way with words hahahaha.

I agree with you, screen passes would seem to be a good strategy against what the Packers have been doing. Hopefully/probably Gannon is thinking that too. One worry I have is that DDS, as athletically great as he is, has kinda been charging in like a bull in a china shop and occasionally having the play go right past him. He and maybe others need to be coached up to spot the screen pass early. They can't survive entirely on screen passes, so I expect them to get to Goff a few times and hopefully rattle him a few other times - more so than what worked on Dak.

I also agree, Packer DBs, even Nixon, have done a good job tackling. The other point there, though, is that we've used a lot of "zone blitzing" - interior linemen or edge rushers dropping into zones while DBs attack the QB. On the one hand, those doing the dropping off ought to be tougher tacklers. On the other hand, they may have some difficulty getting within arm's reach of Gibbs. BTW, isn't that 5'9 220 pretty chose to the measurement of Marshawn Lloyd? - just saying.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

          This isn't good.

Packers aren’t going to have LB/defensive captain Zaire Franklin this week. Per Matt LaFleur, there was a collision in practice and he took a knee to the shin and won’t play Sunday against the Lions. Not an IR situation but it’s still a big loss considering they’ve already lost Edgerrin Cooper.

At least my opponent in fantasy football this week doesn't have Gibbs.

The Packer defensive backs are tackling well, and that has to keep up, though wrapping up Gibbs is no small accomplishment.

It sounds as if Banks is still being limited in what he can do (what else is new?), so I expect they'll start Tomlinson again. On the right side, I wonder if Zeitler has shown enough to warrant the start at RG? Glover has been an upgrade over Monk and Jennings, but that's like saying a port-a-potty is an upgrade over a hole in the ground.
Glover hasn't been even average. No excuse to not put Zeitler in there right now. I'll be kinda pissed if he doesn't start. Packers/Gutes were really lucky that a very good LG and a very good RG happened to be available for nothing. Maybe this year it is destiny, who knows.

Franklin is out of the lineup after taking a knee to the shin in practice. McDuffie and Hopper to start at ILB.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

This is another "here we go again" injury season. Cooper - their best linebacker, a real difference-maker - out for the year, probably never the same when he does get back. Now Franklin, out for the game. So both starting linebackers. Free agent defensive lineman, Hargrave - gone for the year. Warren Brinson, another defensive lineman who was supposedly making that second-year jump, has yet to see the field. Jayden Reed, starting slot receiver, gone. Zach Backo-Bewele, starting right tackle, gone for the year, too.

I wonder if other teams get this many injuries over a season. Someone last year posted an interesting chart that showed the number of (important) injuries (I know that's somewhat subjective) each team had last year, and of course, the two Super Bowl participants were near the top in terms of least-number-of-important-players-injured.

I liked the "injury dollars lost" stat. I'm probably wording it wrong, but you get the point. If you lose a $50M QB for the year it hurts more than losing 2 off ball LBs even if they are studs making 15M each. We lost a lot already. ZBB might be the worst because it was a weak position to begin with and an important position. In a quirky coincidence the final 4 last year were all among the bottom 6 in injury dollars lost.

But.....the reason I stopped in this morning is because it occurred to me (in my world series hangover condition) that Jacobs might be in the best place for the team that he will be in all year. He is back, but not ready to take on a full load. Maybe MiLF will use him just the right amount while still leaning on Love and the pass catchers more. I think 15 carries a game from Jacobs and maybe a couple more from others might be the perfect workload for most games. Keep the sticks manageable, but keep the D off balance.

DETROIT – The Green Bay Packers entered the week with only 50 players on their active roster. They’ll fill at least two of those spots before Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.

Along with activating running back Josh Jacobs, who was given a one-week roster exemption after being taken off the exempt list, the Packers have signed receiver Coleman Owen to their 53-man roster, a source told Packers On SI.
