  • Packers @ Lions - Studs and Duds

    Studs:

Love played well enough to win today.

Jacobs beat the shit out of them.

    Duds:

Matt Pepe LePew, hair wasn’t shining enough and made shitty calls.

Hard for me to call Jacobs a stud since he dropped a pass that would have won the game.

Stud: John Williams. The Composer prevented the offense from totally falling apart.

Dud: Smack. Can't miss gimme field goals in a dome.

I can't stress how bad officials have screwed us this year. When the network runs 60 seconds straight actually ADMITTING we got fucked on at least 3 crucial calls you know it's bad. I've never seen that in 40 years watching football.

I'd call Gannon a stud for his D scheming and adjusting to the loss of Cooper and Zaire Williams. McDuffie was relatively studly. probably Hopper too. DDS is gonna be a helluva player. He showed some brain today in addition to his great athleticism. I often criticize Nixon, so I will mention some good of him today: great job tackling, not as bad as usual in coverage - I'd give him a C+ or B- coverage grade. Campbell and maybe Riley were maybe a little bit close to studs.

On the dud side, the rest of the D Line rotation, Wyatt and Brooks, were IMO noticeably less good than Campbell and Riley. It's hard to tell about McKinney. On the one hand, he mostly disappeared and sometimes looked weak and slow, but they didn't have any long gains on us, pass or runs, so maybe he was doing his job.

As I said in the other thread, LaFleur was the supreme dud for his playcalling and decision-making in general as well as general lameness regarding the damned officiating.

As someone else has noted, the NFL seems to be turning into the WWE as far as officiating.

Jacobs’s drop was a disaster. Smack’s two misses were disasters. The offensive line is offensive, rendering the running game useless and leaving Love little time to throw.

Penalties and drops and poor blocking, penalties and drops and poor blocking. We’re nearly halfway through the season, and this team seems to have established its identity.

The two biggest sluts in this game are the goddamn rookie kicker and the fishy refs.

Were both misses Smacks fault? I heard the second was deflected. Blocking or kicker?

Pretty sure I read something about Smack having a penchant for low kicks in college. Brady mentioned something about the kick being low.

This goddamn rookie is starting to get on my fucking nerves. Make the fucking kick - it’s that simple!

last FG attempt was partially blocked
Rookie kicker, I'm not surprised there are some bumps. He did have a GW FG vs the Jets, in case we forgot. He has to get enough rope as Carlson did, I think he's better than Anders was already and will improve with seasoning.

This loss was about capital-E Execution: penalties and drops hurt them. Team beat itself with help from the refs. People are going to blame Gute and MLF but the players gotta execute better.

The defense and QB are carrying this team, they need more if they want to stay in the playoff hunt.

I am not happy with the kicking, but the Packers can't keep cycling through kickers yearly. You need to develop a young one or pay a vet who has learned. One or the other. Can't keep having buyers remose after 2 or 3 bad games.

                      Time to develop.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
