  • I could see another lineman, like Meredith going to the pack here.

Has some ??? but many believe he has the ability to play tackle in the NFL

    Jamon Meredith
    Height: 6-45/8 | Weight: 304 | 40-Time: 5.03
Jamon Meredith | South Carolina Gamecocks
    Official Bio

    Stars
    Strengths:
Excellent athlete...Adequate height and bulk with long arms...Is quick and agile...Great balance and is a natural knee bender...Nimble feet and moves well laterally...Terrific pass blocker who can protect the edge...Good strength...Mobile with great range to get to the second level and pull...Offers positional versatility...Real smart..Experienced.

    Weaknesses:
May be a bit of a 'tweener...Needs to be more tough and physical...Not real stout at the point of attack...Mediocre initial punch...Doesn't get a great push in the run game...Poor hand use...Not a finisher and lacks a killer instinct...Questionable awareness...Is not a fit for every scheme.

    Notes:
Three-year starter in the SEC...A high school defensive end...Played in one game (three plays) in 2004 but was granted a redshirt as long as he sat out the first two games of the 2008 season...Earned four starts in 2005 then started the next three years for the Gamecocks...Hampered by an ankle injury as a senior...Has extensive experience at left tackle, right tackle and guard...Could project outside or inside...Best fit at the next level might come in a zone blocking scheme...Finesse type with shaky intangibles who some have labeled as soft...Has all the physical tools you look for..May be capable of starting at left tackle in the NFL.

          T Penn State 6-5, 309 40 Time: 5.07

BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter at left tackle awarded all-Conference honors as a senior.

POSITIVES: Nice-sized pass blocker who moves well on his feet. Fluid sliding out to protect the edge, shows the ability to adjust, and keeps blitzing linebackers away from his quarterback. Sets with a wide base, and is effective with his hands, extending them into defenders, and then knocking them from their angle of attack. Patient, flashes the ability to block on the move, and is relatively effective in motion. For the most part, blocks with solid fundamentals.

NEGATIVES: Lacks the dominant base, pushed back off the line by large opponents, and a marginal run blocker. Must improve his blocking balance. Lacks a mean streak, and plays with a passive nature.

ANALYSIS: Cadogan is a solid pass protector with above-average size and athleticism. He possesses the footwork to start at the left tackle position, yet he must improve his strength and learn and play with more fire in his belly.

          PROJECTION: Third Round
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.
          Vince Lombardi

I'm not sure I'd take that cat. I looked at him as a potential Viking pick this round and I think I'd pass.

            • Bears on the clock.

              They've taken:
              2 DEs
              1 CB
              1 WR

              edit: Bears take Knox, WR.

              • Chris Baker maybe, if we still think we need depth on the DL. Can play both NT and DE in the 3-4. Big time character issues, but maybe worth the risk in the 5th round.

I think the 5th round is the time to take a boom/bust type player. If he doesn't pan out its not a huge loss, value wise. However, if he puts it all together he can make the d that much better.

The lowdown: Ran for 774 yards and seven touchdowns on a poor running team in 2008. Not very tall but he has good bulk and very good top-end speed. Has a low center of gravity. A good competitor. Small hands make ball security an issue. Major concerns about his ability to stay healthy.
