    Youth

    It's amazing when you think how young this team is. We only have 7 guys on the team that are older than 28 (Driver, Clifton, Pickett, Kampman, Poppinga, Woodson, Harris). Not 30. 28. And Pickett, Kampman, and Poppinga are 29, so they could have a few good years left. Most know the team is young, but when you actually see the ages, it's pretty amazing. The thing I'm excited about is that most of these guys have been here a year or three, so they are young (most are 25 and younger) but should be hitting their formative years.

    These are the guys that have a reasonable chance to make the team:

    What I like is that many of the young guys have multiple seasons of starts under their belt. I am hoping this comes together fast on D. But I suppose there is a reason Parcells always brings in veterans when he moves.
    Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

      Chillar being 26 surprised me. That's kind of young for a guy who hit FA and has a year under his belt in his new home.

        I think Chillar is better than most give him credit for; he's just that guy who is solid in every facet of the game.
        TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

          Given the descriptions by Bedard, Chillar would seem to be a natural to keep because he can handle the coverage responsibilities of Barnett's new role (Jack linebacker) and he could probably move outside in a pinch, even if that is not his best fit due to a lack of history in pass rush. If he can man special teams, I would be stunned if he isn't all over the depth chart in September.

            Good point, and I hadn't really thought about it. Sounds like Barnett's position is going to play the most coverage of any of the LBs. I thought maybe it would be the OLB opposite Kampman. Then, it makes sense to keep Chillar inside as insurance for Barnett. I think Chillar's pretty solid, and I don't have a problem with him starting. He's not a great, but he's somebody that you can win with.

              So for the first time in my life, it appears that I will be older than every Green Bay Packer.

              That might start to put a dent in my lifetime goal of becoming a Packers WR.

                I was with you until last year. Once Brett left, for the first time I was older than every Packers player.

                  Now that I think about it, I must have been last year as well. I forget Rob Davis was gone last year too. So I was already old. Not sure if that makes it better or not.

                          I think Patler may have pointed this out before, but look how young Brandon Jackson is. Guy's entering his third year and he's only 23.

                          I wonder if he'll have a big improvement given his youth.

                          And Poppinga, for a guy with, what, four seasons under his belt, is relatively old.

                            I thought Jackson really improved his second year. He was much more decisive in hitting the holes and seemed to have a greater feel for the game at the pro level.

                              Agreed. Never goes down after initial contact. Nice changeup to the long striding Grant.

                              IMO Chillar and Poppinga are ilb. Both are physical enough to take on the guards and play the B gap.

                              TT's built a youthful roster which should restart a Wolf/Holgrem type era.
