Sapp is damned lucky Sherman didn't have his purse.

As it was I got the impression from how it sounded that Mike Sherman had used the phrase "chicken shit" the way others say "motherf*cker," as if he was pulling out the biggest gun in his swearing arsenal.

(I will always be a little embarrassed by that exchange between Sherman and Sapp. It was like the time my mom came outside and pulled the neighborhood bully off of me--the ass-whupping I had been getting was way less embarrassing than having my mom give a big stupid kid a public scolding.)

As far as the young guys, I really do believe that TT makes an effort to draft guys that love football and respect teammates. The callow and shallow may haunt Sapp's locker room, but the Green Bay Packer locker room is filled with Packer people by design.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

Here's a cheap but fun shot at the Vikings:

      Percy Harvin is Vikings People!

Okay, now that I've written that, watch some Packer rookie get arrested outside a strip club with a gun...

Or was that Cory Rodgers? Now there's some Packer people.

But if the guy coulda hung on to punts he might've been Packer people anyway.

I hardly felt embarrassed by Sherman's confronting Sapp. In fact, I felt damn proud that he was standing up for his player!

Yes, it WAS one of the best things Shermy every did, IMO.

The problem wasn't the hit on Clifton, the problem was his utter lack of concern for the man. If he had simply said he felt bad Clifton was hurt, but I play every play like its my last and I made a legal hit that unfortunately hurt someone....that would have been fine, I would defend him to this day.

BUT...."was it a legal hit...was there a flag on the play..." at the top of his lungs as if to justify the consequence...that was just stupid.

Sapp is an interesting dude. I hated the Cliffy hit as much as anyone, and I still can't forgive him for it. But at least publicly, Packer players, like Rivera, didn't call it a dirty hit, and it's worth noting Sapp hit Cliffy straight up -- he didn't cut his knees or some crap like that. So the Cliffy hit doesn't wipe out everything Sapp did -- he played tough and hard.

A little historical perspective -- Sapp's been far less of an ass about the Cliffy hit than Chuck Bednarik was about the lick he put on Gifford -- dude used to do speeches where he'd start off with the lights out and say crap like "that's what Gifford saw after I hit him."

Ah, screw it, they're both asshats.

Cuz dude was a dumb ass ghetto turd, who besides his talent, tried to hurt peeps. Clifton did not deserve that cheap shot, and as much as some hate ole Shermy, I give that coach props for getting in his face after that game. WTF? Snake's not a small guy/loved fighting in the past, but would prob. get his ass kicked with Sapp, but would have done the same thing. Dude is a cheap ass punk. No love for Sapp from Snake. Fuck that guy.
Snake's Twitter comments would be LEGENDARY.........if I was ugly or gave a shit about Twitter.

Add Charles Martin to that list.

Ok. This is football. It's not a short list, but Martin's hit was chicken shit.

Yeah, that Chucky Martin hit made me cringe because not only was it cheap he did it while in a Packer uniform.

I'd rather watch Ezra Johnson eat a hot dog on the sideline.
