Vikings reportedly redid Antoine Winfield for 5 years at $36M total, $16M guaranteed. That's a lot of cash to invest in trying to keep a 32 year old cornerback happy, but I suppose the Tampa 2 system might allow him to remain productive despite the effects of aging. Assuming the Vikings know what they're doing, I see their ability to do this as testament to the stellar job they do at cap management.

Re: Vikings redo Winfields contract
Kind of a strange contract. He gets the cash this year and next and then he is subject to "de-escalators". Instead getting a bump up for starting, he gets his salary cut if he isn't the starter.Originally posted by hoosierVikings reportedly redid Antoine Winfield for 5 years at $36M total, $16M guaranteed. Brzezinski has been doing the Vikings books for, what, almost a decade now? If I'm not mistaken he's thought of as the best in the league at managing the salary cap.Originally posted by MichiganPackerFanHas he? I thought Brandt moved on a couple years back. Or am I mistaken?Originally posted by mngolf19Actually our cap guy has been around longer than Teddy.Originally posted by FritzVikings' GM takin' lesson from the Tedmeister!

Completely agree. Both have done some clever things.

This shows you haven't watched/know the Vikes much. Not that I would expect you to.Originally posted by CaliforniaCheezWasted money.
The guy isn't that good of a CB or he would have more than 3 INT's in the last 2 years.
Also the vikings pass defense was 20th in the NFL.
The guy will get cut or traded before the contract is complete.
1. that's not his game or what is expected of him
2. is really not that meaningful
3. will not happen(did you read the part about de-escalators?)

How many INT's has Al Harris accumulated in the past 2 years?Originally posted by CaliforniaCheezThe guy isn't that good of a CB or he would have more than 3 INT's in the last 2 years.
He's pretty good, no?Chuck Norris doesn't cut his grass, he just stares at it and dares it to grow

Don't mess with Vikes fans and Brz.Originally posted by FritzAh, you. Letting facts get in the way.Originally posted by mngolf19Actually our cap guy has been around longer than Teddy.Originally posted by FritzVikings' GM takin' lesson from the Tedmeister!

They don't all care for the owners.
Most dislike the coaching.
They love their cap guy. (Seems pathetic, I know, but he is the only non-player that Vikings fans universally agree apon liking). Brz is to Vikes fans what Wolf is to Packers fans.
