  • Transactions Involving Former Packers

I find it interesting to follow players with Packer ties. If others are interested, maybe we can keep this as a running thread through out preseason, adding anything we find about such players. Kind of a one stop shop for information about players we followed on the Packers. To start it out:

Josh Bidwell - placed on IR by Tampa with a hip injury. Must be a significant injury for them to put him on IR this early.

Mike Hawkins - cut by Dallas on Monday. I didn't realize he was still flirting around with an NFL career. Shows that raw athletic talent will get you opportunity after opportunity.

Thomas Gafford - signed by KC.

What about Greg Pawlus (spelling?)? Former Duke point guard, came in to Green Bay for a tryout/interview, then decided to go back to school. Just named the starting Qb at Syracuse, despite not playing football in 4 years.
I think it's the same guy.

Wow, he was named the starting QB, already?! I know he was an All-American at both football and basketball but to start after 4 years of inactivity is quite a feat.

I hadn't heard that. Some were surprised that he picked basketball over football initially, saying he was really much better at football.

This will be an interesting ongoing story.

Didn't Robert Ferguson sign with someone recently?

And does Carson Butler count as a former Packer?

Ya, I knew about the Packer tryout and all. I just hadn't heard about him at Syracuse. I thought he was headed to Michigan, or someplace like that.

A year as a starter might be all he needs to show he is worthy of an NFL training camp.

I just heard a whisper of a rumor about that and I was going to contribute that here.

TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

I've been following Shaun Bodiford with the Giants, but only because he's a friend on Facebook...

After hearing these names, I realize there are way to many to follow. I guess with the 50+ roster size, that creates a lot of opportunity for turnover, and TT certainly used that over his first couple of years. ALways like knowing where people end up though. Except for #4. Already know that one.
