  • Ass Will Be Kicked by the Pack

I'm going to go out on the limb. I'm not the type to do that, but dammit, it's time.

C'mon. You all know it. The Favre drama is someone else's drama. Rodgers is young and good and imprvoing, and the defense has to be - has to be - better than last year.

And so will the offense. The offensive line is coming together. And even if Harrell busts, the rest of the line will be workmanlike.

And we've got linebackers coming out of our - okay, our ears.

And the secondary? Whose secondary would you trade it for?

Depth at most positions, and you all know it.

Barring key injuries, this team is going to rock the NFC North.

And you know it. Even you, Wist. C'mon, buddy. You know it, too.

    I like your optimism Fritz.

It sure does look like we have a lot more reason for hope than we have in quite a while. (What's your take on that Ol' Wisty?)

If the pieces come together like it looks on paper, we could be in for a really fun season.

I wanna be the first (dammit, SECOND!) co-sign on my dude Fritz' thread here... it's hard not to "see" it right now.

Say what you want about "oh it's just preseason" ... the last time we had a great preseason, we went 13-3. The overall intensity is light years above where we've been. Search for my old posts and 'intensity' and you can see that's all I complained about. Years and years of it.

      Can't wait for this season!

Pretty hard not to be excited. Maybe their Ws have come at the expense of bad teams, but they've done what good teams do to bad teams -- dominated them.

I see a much more fired up team on both sides of the ball. I'm even more excited because we have a solid team built that *should* be strong for multiple seasons, barring injuries.

          VERY optimistic!!
I think this team is going to surpeise - in a positive way! - a lot of prognosticaters who seem to rely, year after year, solely on a team's record of the previous year to predict the future.

I'm excited like always during the summer. And the team has looked better than usual so far. But it's too early, and I'm reserving judgement.

I'm with you Fritz, forget detached observation.

Someone get RetailGuy in here to pass the kool-aid.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

10-6 winning the NFCN and kicking arse every Sunday

                  *edit for more kool-aid talk*

I think the defense will again scare offenses. Sacks, preasure, turnovers and outright bad assness will be higher. Tandem CB that most teams kill for, Depth in the LB corp, Hawk will dominate this year, AK will be a stud and love the position. DL that is shortened and thus adds depth.

Offense! OMG the offense will be spectacular. Number one QB in the north, number 1 WR, an Oline that isnt being shuffled every 13 plays, RBs running like they want to hit something and then step on it as they go through it. TE is a threat again...wow two TE that can start NICE...a FB who by some accounts was put up against a brick wall in 1 v 1 and ran through it.

How the H can't you be excited!

Jermichael Finley will be the straw that stirs this year. I feel like we could lose anyone on offense except a TE. A double Finley/Lee set will run hard or surprise with the run...visions of Chewy and Jackson running through my head.

If the D can provide turnovers like last year AND pressure like '07 we could REALLY surprise people and get 12-13 wins again. Grant looks authoritive and wynn looks all growed up....its august and we can't LOST BABY!!!

I agree with all of this. The OL improved play and hopefully the emergence of Finley will open up the running game. If this team can rush for 120-150 a game, they will be very, very difficult to beat I'd have to imagine.

The last time I was this giddy about the possibilities for the Packers was the training camp for '96. I remember at the Family Night Reggie White running around the stadium high-fiving people. While the fans where chanting SUPER BOWL. I believe all the pieces are in place for a run for the Super Bowl. This is the most talented team Packers have had since '96, '97 seasons. It will come down to the Packers vs Eagle for the SUPER BOWL. This time we beat the Eagles to advance.........

Thats one thing I noticed. This team, especially the D looks EXCITED. Everytime they create a turnover, 11 guys are jumping around like its a playoff game. When was the last time we saw that in Aug?!

Arizona on the road will be a good test. I hope to have my kool-aid on hand to drink while watching on the tube.
