44% of SI experts pick GB to lose the Superbowl

All of them put us into the playoffs too. I wouldn't mind some of those predictions coming true.
And Don Banks ranks us 3rd in the league in the SI power rankings, up from 19th before training camp here
I'd be worried if the ESPN consensus didn't trash us here They put us as tied at 11th with the bears, behind the vikes at 9th. Chadiha put us at 18th, which should cancel out any of the jinx coming from SI.

Bandwagon jumpers - or just uninformed in their first opinion?Originally posted by redholy crap
i find it amazing that 5 weeks ago most experts didn't even think we are a playoff team
now guys have us going to the SB
wow
They, IMHO, just look at last season's record and big name FA signings to determine their earlier rankings.

Adam Schein over at FOX also puts us into the Super Bowl Losers category and has Arod as MVP too: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/1...009-NFL-season
I suppose we should all just resign ourselves to the superbowl loser's slump next in 2010. This many analysts can't be wrong, right?

N: Ravens
S: Titans
WC: Colts
WC: Steelers
E: Giants
W: Seahawks
N: Packers
S: Falcons

CCG: Chargers vs. Ravens CCG: Packers vs. Giants (not again)
SB: Chargers vs. Packers (I'll have $550 on the Pack)The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

The interesting thing I take from this is the ESPN rankings...having the 3 NFC teams (the junior varsity squad doesn't count) right at the top 10 mark. Putting the entire division (again, minus you know who) in the top 1/3 of the league.Originally posted by boigaAll of them put us into the playoffs too. Imagine for a moment a world without hypothetical situations...

The more realistic note from the local beat reporters is more reassuring than national talking heads. All four GBPG guys have us winning the NFCN with at least a 10-6 record. Two of them have us losing the NFCCG and Bedard at JSO also made that prediction in his 9/8/09 podcast.
Most of these guys had predicted the Pack having a let down season last year, and they were right. So, the fact that they are showing more confidence this year is reassuring.

I'm guessing the reason they thought we would have a let down last year was because of Rodgers though. I don't really take any stock in these predictions and I hope to God that our young team doesn't either. Some of the vets need to step up and make sure the young guys are taking nothing for granted especially since the Packers have proven NOTHING this season yet.Originally posted by boigaThe more realistic note from the local beat reporters is more reassuring than national talking heads. My feel of the team is that they knew they played out their asses the 13-3 year. None of 'em knew if they were that good. Then they saw how a good team can have a shit year like last year.
Now, they all have a chip on their shoulder and are pissed off. They was to prove themselves and are a young bunch with a lot of talent.
I say we have a good year, but the PLAYOFFS?
Nobody predicted the play-offs accurately last year when we knew who was in it, let alone now.
Let's get in 'em and then get it on.

Well, the Helens over at Sporting News don't think highly of the Packers chances. Only 2/7 of their prognosticators think the Packers make it into the playoffs, whereas 6/7 think the Vikes get in.
I agree that this is all pretty meaningless, but gauging the various echo chambers within each sports news source can be amusing.
The general consensus is that the Bears are underdogs this year. Only Peter Schrager at Fox and Peter King at SI think the Bears are going to make any noise in the postseason. Weren't they the universal favorites a month ago?

Bon voyage, Oh GB Queen!Originally posted by GBRulzI actually moved to GB in March of 97, right after we won the SB. Since I've lived here, we haven't been able to win.
Well, I'm moving away from GB in three weeks....so we might have a shot at winning it all.
