    Haha.

Good team. I've said all year long to people I work with and my brothers, I know they had us early, but I've seen quite a bit of Viking football and I think they're about even with us.

Still a very good team, just like I think the Packers are a very good team. I don't think the Vikings are a champion though. Favre is good enough, but their team has some weak links on the OL and a few issues in the back seven of their defense as well as spotty coverage units.

Just a few too many weak spots, just like us. Indy, NE and the Eagles seem more complete to me.

      • It sure seemed to me that MN was trying to establish the run and use the run to set up the pass in the first half

In the second half it seemed like they used many more spread formations and used the pass to set up the run.

Half two and the second strategy worked a lot better
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

You know Rodgers said something yesterday that I think really applied to this. The Vikings offense, when it's struggling, looks a lot like the Packers offense struggling with pressure causing problems.

Rodgers said by spreading it out, it makes the defense more "vanilla". I think a smart QB who's in tune wiht his offense knows there is only so much a defense can do when there are 4 or 5 wide receivers. Both Favre and Rodgers are smart QB's. When the offense is in a more traditional set, defenses can really disguise coverages and that killed Rodgers early in the season. It was killing Favre early in this game.

When they spread it out with good weapons and a really smart QB, I think it becomes very hard for a defense to stop. And I agree, the Vikings are better off spread 4 wide (maybe Shiancoe as the 4th) and Peterson in the backfied. Favre was picking them apart when he had it spread out.

Well, it's a well known fact that it's much more important in the playoffs to be "getting hot at the right time" than to "be the best team". Hot teams beat better teams in the playoffs all the time. One thing that's weird about the NFC this year is the relative paucity of hot teams at this time of year. Certainly, neither the Saints nor the Vikings are hot at this point.

            • Your definition of hot is a bit stringent. Iggles are hot. Packers are hot. Dallas if they win are hot. Pats are hot. Colts are hot.

The idea is to get hot at the playoffs...not to be hot b4. Cards are a perfect example. They weren't hot b4.

                • In the NFC, the Eagles are really hot right now.

After them, we lost a tough game to a good Pitt team on the road, but they had 10 days rest. Anyway, after the Eagles, we're probably the other hot team.

                  • After the Eagles, it's a real cluster. New Orleans is good and they get that bye/home field in the dome. That advantage alone gives them a huge edge.

                    Eagles/Saints at the top

and a huge cluster below. Really, I think the Packers and Vikings are the best of the next group, but anyone can beat anyone on the bottom here. Really, it's a bunch of coin tosses.

Its not just the spread. He mentioned Finley specifically.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Neither team has a dominant OL anymore; GB's is probably weaker. I think both teams create matchup problems when they spread things out. Without Al Harris it becomes harder for GB to defend that set. But I still think the Vikings coaching staff thinks it should be using the run to set up the pass. I'm not sure the OL is dominant enough to go with that mojo.

If the Eagles beat the Cowboys, Giants beat the Vikings, and Cards beat us then we play the Vikings. Not sure about other scenarios ,but I know that one.
