I dont see how his leg could have done what it did (as he was flying through the air) unless his knee was destroyed. It was bending in directions it should not be bending, if you know what I mean.Originally posted by MJZiggyWas it the femur or did the knee shred?

Yeah, on further review I agree. That looks like the total package, since the knee doesn't flop around like that unless you've torn a bunch of ligaments. That might be worst than Daunte's knee injury, to compare recent catastrophic knee injuries for Viking players.Originally posted by gbgarynot watching the game but saw that you tube vid. looks like all knee to me.</delurk>

I hope the repair goes well and it heals quickly. The lower bones of leg likely broke, tibia & fibula. Likely corresponding ligament damage in the knee due to the unnatural wrenching action.
Reminds me of Willis McGahee injury, both were frontal shots followed by grotesque images. Although McGahee's blow was higher up on the leg.
Hopefully E.J. can bounce back like McGahee did but it will take about two yrs.

It looks like he damaged both the ACL and the MCL, so the recovery time on that will stretch into next season (if not the season after). Considering, as a LB, he needs to cut and change direction a lot, it could be a tough road back for him.Originally posted by MJZiggyI hope the repair goes well and it heals quickly. Yeah, last year he had a toe injury that required surgery, IIRC.Originally posted by Bossman641Just watched the replay, ouch. You hate to see that happen to a guy. Henderson was placed on IR last year as well right? Best of luck EJ.</delurk>

Ya know, with all the criticism we give the broadcast teams, I gotta applaud them for not replaying serious injuries like that repeatedly. It was bad enough to watch the one replay."Greatness is not an act... but a habit.Greatness is not an act... but a habit." -Greg Jennings

thats a bad one. looks like the whole knee exploded for lack of a better term
i would have to guess his career is in serious jeopardy"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious." - Vince Lombardi
