What Song Do You Think Best Represents The Favre Vs. Packers Divorce?

This "popcorn" article is written simply to have a little fun before Sunday's big matchup at Lambeau Field.

So, I pose a question to all fans - pro-Favre, pro-Packer or indifferent: What song best represents the Favre vs. Packer Nation divorce? Whether sung from Favre to the fans or vice versa, I welcome your creative contributions.

As for my pick, I thought it might be cathartic for all parties involved to listen to Dave Mason’s classic “We Just Disagree” and imagine as if good ol’ Brett was singin’ the letter he wrote ya:

Been away, haven't seen you in a while.
    How've you been?
Have you changed your style and do you think
That we've grown up differently? Don't seem the same
Seems you've lost your feel for me

So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye.
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy.
There's only you and me and we just disagree.

I'm going back to a place that's far away. How bout you?
Have you got a place to stay? Why should I care?
When I'm just trying to get along We were friends
But now it's the end of our love song...

So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye.
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy.
There's only you and me and we just disagree.

Hopefully, when a few years go by and the dust settles, Favre will Lambeau Leap back into Packer fans’ hearts, and a happier song will take its place.

Until then, however, let's see whatcha got!

Yeah...Snake's a bastard. Couldn't think of a song but this shit is classic. Still love the old bastard as a player. Regardless. Go Pack! Post some songs. I don't care if you hate him. Should be funny....

I'm trying but can't hate him....here's some funny Sears commercial outtakes:

    Ok....here's a diss:

Not a song but funny as hell...Hitler is a Packer and Favre fan...peep this:

    Nevermind

Absolution is out of the question
It makes no sense to apologize
The words I thought I brought I left behind,
    So never mind
All over but the shouting, just a waste of time
    Never mind
All over but the shouting, just a waste of time

I'm not ready as I'll ever be
I climb the walls, I fall into the sea
I'm not ready as I'll ever be
And I suppose your guess is more or less as bad as mine
All over but the shouting, just a waste of time
    Never mind
All over but the shouting, just a waste of time
And I suppose your guess is more or less as bad as mine

You oughta tell me, you oughta say if you're not sure
You oughta tell me, you got to help me remember

    Never mind
All over but the shouting, just a waste of time
    Never mind
All over but the shouting, just a waste of time
    Never mind
    Never mind
    Never mind
    Never mind
The words I thought I brought I left behind
    So never mind
After lunch the players lounged about the hotel patio watching the surf fling white plumes high against the darkening sky. Clouds were piling up in the west… Vince Lombardi frowned.

      I will survive, Cake version:

      At first I was afraid
      I was petrified
      I kept thinking
I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights
Just thinking how you'd done me wrong
      And I grew strong
I learned how to get along
      So now you're back
      From outer space
I just walked in to find you here
Without the look upon your face
I should have changed my fucking lock
I would have made you leave your key
If I'd have known for just one second
You'd be back to bother me

      Oh now go,
      Walk out the door
      Just turn around now
      You're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to break me with desire
      Did you think I'd crumble
Did you think I'd lay down and die
      Oh no, not I
      I will survive
As long as I know how to love I know I'll be alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
      I will survive
      I will survive
      Yeah, yeah

It took all the strength I had
      Just not to fall apart
I'm trying hard to mend the pieces
      Of my broken heart
And I spent oh so many nights
      Just feeling sorry for myself
      I used to cry
But now I hold my head up high
      And you see me
      With somebody new
I'm not that stupid little person still in love with you
And so you thought you'd just drop by
And you expect me to be free
But now I'm saving all my loving
      For someone who's loving me

      Oh now go,
      Walk out the door
      Just turn around now
      You're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to break me with desire
      Did you think I'd crumble
Did you think I'd lay down and die
      Oh no, not I
      I will survive
As long as I know how to love I know I'll be alive
I've got all my live to live
I've got all my love to give
      I will survive
      I will survive

Mike and his brothers capture it for some:

          Never can say goodbye
          No no no no, I
          Never can say goodbye

Even though the pain and heartache
Seems to follow me wherever I go
Though I try and try to hide my feelings
          They always seem to show
Then you try to say you're leaving me
And I always have to say no...

          Tell me why
          Is it so

          That I
          Never can say goodbye
          No no no no, I
          Never can say goodbye

Everytime I think I've had enough
I start heading for the door
          There's a very strange vibration
piercin me right to the core
It says turn around you fool
You know you love her more and more

          Tell me why
          (tell me why)
          Is it so
          (is it so)
          Don't wanna let you go!

I can never can say goodbye girl
          (never can say goodbye girl)
          ou ou baby
(don't wanna let you go girl)
          I never can say goodbye
no no no no no no no no no no no

          ou! oh!
I never can say goodbye girl
          (never can say goodbye girl)
          ouuuuuuuu ouuuuuuuuuu
          never can say goodbye
no no no no no no no no no no no

          (chorus)

I keep thinkin that our problems
Soon are all gonna work out
But there's that same unhappy feeling and there's that anguish, there's that
          doubt
It's the same old did ya hang up
Can't do with you or without

          Tell me why
          Is it so
          Don't wanna let you go

I vote for the Cars' "Best Friend's Girl".

                She's my best friend's girl
But she used to be mine"
Teamwork is what the Green Bay Packers were all about. They didn't do it for individual glory. They did it because they loved one another.

Rodgers is very athletic right now. Of the QB's that can really throw and lead an offense, Rodgers might be the most athletic.

But back in the day, Favre was a beast. I forgot that he ever moved like that and he had a cannon. Just the way he was built, the guy used to be really thick. Just looks tough and played tough too. Tough to tackle, like McNabb in his prime but a better passer.

When people talk about the legend of Favre, I barely remember how great he was. I think he's the most overrated player in the game right now, although he does have a lot of savvy, he's just physically not much right now and I think that limits his game a lot. The crazy thing, is even at 40, he's still got enough to play at a high level. He'll be the first over 40 QB to lead at team to the playoffs. That's crazy. The guy has a 40 year old disadvantage, but shit, he deserves credit for being able to play the game still.

Glad we moved on, it was the right move, but I gotta give the old guy props for what he did and still does. He was great and still is good at an age where most can't even lace up as the 3rd string QB.

Rodgers might be athletic, but he doesn't seem to have a great feel for where the rush is coming from and how to avoid it. And he can't throw one away quickly when the shit is hitting the fan.

I don't know if I'd go all that far. The Packers had a precision aerial attack in the preseason that looked like Tom Brady was leading the 2007 Patriots with 60 yard precision bombs being the staple of Rodgers game. They came into this season wanting to give Rodgers time, knowing that Rodgers is one of the most accurate, impressive passers in the NFL, especially deep. It didn't exactly pan out, but now the Packers have accepted that they aren't going to be able have enough time to employ that type of passing attack.

Rodgers sack numbers as a first year starter were solid. Since they have gone away from the 5 and 7 step drops, he's really brought the sack numbers down.

I think Rodgers has shown good presence in the pocket and I think over his career, you won't see a highly sacked QB, even over this season. Momentum lead them in that direction, but reality lead them away from that type of a passing attack. Rodgers has to play a little more like Favre, taking more of the short stuff and relying on YAC.

Ooo, you're givin' me the fever tonight
                              I don't wanna give in
                              I'd be playin' with fire
You forget, I've seen you work before
Take `em straight to the top
                              Leave `em cryin' for more
I've seen you burn `em before
                              Chorus:

                              Fire and Ice
You come on like a flame
Then you turn a cold shoulder
                              Fire and Ice
I wanna give you my love
But you'll just take a little piece of my heart

                              You'll just tear it apart

Movin' in for the kill tonight
You got every advantage when they put out the lights
It's not so pretty when it fades away
Cause it's just an illusion in this passion play
I've seen you burn `em before

                              (Chorus)

So you think you got it all figured out
You're an expert in the field, without a doubt
But I know your methods inside and out
And I won't be takin' in by Fire and Ice

                              (Chorus)

You come on like a flame
