I still think it was big but Vikings would probably have anyway. It could've fired up the Pack yet we'll never know.

    McCoach will "fix it" !

Don't know whether it was a game changer or not, but it clearly displays the temperment on this team. Speaks very clearly as to what McCarthy thinks about stupid penaties, and what the cost of them are... NONE.

This team is pathetic. It is sad because they have enough talent, just can't seem to put it together.

Both lines are beyond horrible. The D can stop the run, but couldn't get pressure if they each had a mack truck. The OL is worthless.

While you're right that there was probably only a point difference based on that play, the ramifications are much larger.

It was early in the game, and the D getting a stop against that O would have been a confidence builder. Much better to go into the huddle saying "let's stop them again!" than "let's not let them score another TD"

As TFA said, it changed a 4th and 10 into a first down.

JJ is a trash talker. Needs to keep emotions under control.

JJ has played well in k year. Worth resigning for a nominal price. Is JJ another Hunt or Williams?

If he wants Hunt/Williams type money he is not worth keeping.

Jolly is showing off his nice shiny new asshole that MM ripped him:
Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly was singing a completely different tune Wednesday afternoon in the locker room about his boneheaded personal foul penalty handed the Minnesota Vikings four extra points in the first quarter of Sunday's game.

Immediately after the game, Jolly was defiant and offered no remorse for the head-butt he applied to the Vikings’ Chester Taylor that resulted in a personal foul penalty after the Packers had forced Minnesota into a fourth-down situation. Instead of settling for a field goal, the Vikings used Jolly’s gift as a springboard to score a touchdown four plays later for a 7-3 lead. The Vikings never trailed again.

“I shouldn’t have let my emotions take over on that play,” said Jolly today. “Nick (Barnett) made a great play on third down. We could have been off the field. That gave them an opportunity to get three more snaps prior to the touchdown they scored. Next time it won’t happen like that. That was my fault. I take all the blame for it.”

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he spoke with Jolly on Monday about the penalty.

“When that line is crossed, then consequences occur,” said McCarthy at his Wednesday press conference. “Trust me, Johnny Jolly has been spoken to. A number of individuals were spoken to Monday. The message and the topics we needed to discuss as a team on Monday were discussed directly, loud and clear. We need to learn from this experience. Yeah, our penalties are too high, and particularly that type of penalty. There's no excuse for it. For it to happen that late, after the play, four points and all that. It definitely factored in the game. I'm confident that our football team will learn from Johnny's mistake.”

Jolly apparently got the message, based on his humble tone today.

“That was totally my fault,” he said. “Actually I told the guys in the game, that was my fault, whatever. But I let my emotions take over. I shouldn’t have done that. I’m a better person than that.”

Is it physically possible for MM to rip himself a new asshole?

Cuz I'm with Madtown on this.

Reading this pisses me off that we have a pussy head coach like MM. I wish we could see a coach that got pissed off at his players and made them run their ass till they did regret what they did and promised it wouldn't happen again. You just stopped the opposing team on a critical 3rd down early in the game when the pace of the game is being set. To say that it didn't matter is just pure ignorance from Jolly. Also, you just stopped them on 3rd down in the red zone. WTF are you doing with the other teamates? Get the fuck away from them and go celebrate with your teamates on your sideline, dummy.

Very perceptive. I'll bet Trgovac. MM seems to me the type of manager that is totally comfortable with standing in front of the WHOLE team in private and tongue-lashing everyone for one individual's mistake. This manager then delegates to countless middle managers the responsibility of individual counseling. We've all experienced this behavior. It's a common management technique in our modern world, especially in bigger organizations. It sucks and it's counterproductive. Why?

Because a day later the head guy is smiling and exchanging pleasantries with everyone and all is forgiven. He or she is everyone's well-thought-of buddy. In the meantime, the middle-managers -- saddled with a job to do -- try as best they can to get their message across to misbehaving individuals and then move on. Nothing really changes.

The corporate culture is set by the men on top by example and by being firm and confrontational with anyone who crosses that culture. (By confrontational, I don't necessarily mean ranting and raving. I mean an immediate and direct warning, such as: Everyone make mistakes. Just learn from it and don't make the same mistake twice or you'll regret it. The employee has to believe that dire consequences will occur if the mistake is repeated.)
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.
