  • Mangini Claims Lions Stalled No Huddle With Faked Injuries

Just sour grapes or is there something to it?

I've often wondered if the penalty is stiff enough to prevent this kind of thing. I think the league says the injured player has to sitout the next play. With all the substitutions nowadays, that's not a very big deal.

And it is an effective way to slow down an opponent on a roll.

Do the Packers play much no huddle (other than two-minute drill)?

One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

Guess Belichik forgot to teach Eric that trick, so he got out-coached again, eh?

The Packers have no huddled in the 4 minute offense at the end of a couple of halves and I think it was one look in the gameplan against the Vikes in one game I think. But its not featured much.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Mangini needs to stfu. The guy who didn't want reveal whether he was starting Quinn or Anderson to trick the opposing team is complaining about something so trivial? Seriously, someone higher up should just look him in the face and say "shut the fuck up idiot."

Someone higher up will look him the face alright. Except the words "you're fired" are going to be coming out of his lips.

He is right...they did....so what. Teams have been faking injuries to stall the no huddle since chuck whatshisname did it to the bills back in the day. Difference is chuck was blatant about it having the same 2 players fake the injury back and forth or something ridiculous like that.

This is a major reason the no huddle isn't used too much, every team has a guy that is going to come out in passing situations that can flop around for a bit then come back later. Its one of those tough situations that you can't govern and just have to let play out....sort of like the auto industry..........

                Chuck Knox.

                Coaching the Seahawks.

He did it against both Buffalo and the Bengals when those teams pioneered no huddle. He used to do it openly and more or less laugh about it.

Eric is just whining in his last NFL HC job.

Unless Al Davis hires his foolish ass.

That's like trying to trick the other team by not telling them whether Joe Blauchwitz or Fred Grabonski is going to be cutting the grass before the game.

Whatever the case is, the final score is what matters. Mangini has a proven track record of being a bad coach. Mangini can cry foul all day long, but one thing ir for sure, no one will ever accuse him of cheating, not with his record.

I had the opportunity to see the World Cup playoff between France and Ireland. You want to talk about faking injury? Bad officiating? The NFL doesn't hold a candle to FIFA.

Fake injuries in soccer (world cup) were so annoying. At least in the NFL - the clock stops. Sure, they 'addon' time - but it's not the same.

It's a cheap move that bad teams employ.

I believe our guy is named Mike Wood, but you better check with Coach McCarthy first to make sure.

Eric Man-weenie - waaahaaaa!! It's pretty rare, I think, for a head coach to fail in his first head coaching gig and then get hired again somewhere else. It worked for Belichek, and if Pete Carroll wanted a second shot in the NFL he could have one, but I'm not sure how many first-time-head-coaches-who-fail get a second shot. Maybe Dom Capers, but he had two expansion franchises.

In short, Man-Weenie is failing at stop #2, and that will be his last head coaching gig - he's not Mad Al's type, I don't think. Al seems to like virgins.

Maye Man-weenie can be the next Pete Carroll....or the next Charlie Weiss.

Mike Wood liked to angle cut the field, while the current guy cuts back and forth the long direction. McCarthy prefers side to side. Don't lay an egg cutting that field Mr. Wood!
