  • Early Injury Report

It's looking like the Cardinal injuries are a little worse than expected:

The Arizona Cardinals have several big question marks on the injury front as they prepare for their playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.

EDIT: I know schedule and game difficulty is as much when you play someone as it is who you play, but I'd like to see GB beat a healthy 'zona team. That way they'd have nothing to hide behind for their defeat and no excuses for why they lost...

Here's what one Cards fan said:

"this is the team that tanked all those games last year then TRIED HARD IN THE PLAYOFFS

theyve setup green bay perfectly for a shock on sunday"

So, it appears that the Super-Secret-Squirrel plan was to tank it against the Packers to give them false confidence, and piss off your own guys for the Packers going out and trying to win. On top of that, you get a couple of your guys hurt, then make it sound worse that it is, so Green Bay comes in thinking they can just walk out there and the Cards will fall over.

    Sounds fool proof to me.

...and the Packers have two starters, both former Pro Bowl players, sitting on IR. That's just the way it goes. Do you think they are wishing the Packers had Harris and Kampman, so they could beat the Packers at full strength?

Somehow if the reverse was true, I don't think we'd see McCarthy whining about how the win didn't count because the Pack wasn't at full strength (see: Whisenhunt, Ken; this week referring to Sunday's game).

These are injuries suffered playing the Packers last week. So saying you'd rather play a healthy Cardinal team doesn't make much sense. We did that already and beat the shit out of them. Now they aren't as healthy.

But can you truly say you wouldn't buy this story if the Pack loses?

I think if the Cards win, it's because they play better during the game, not because of a bunch of alleged collusion and trickery. I don't like McCarthy, but he's not mentally retarded. I think last weeks game demonstrated that he's going to play his game regardless of what the other team is doing, or claiming to be doing, or saying it's doing while secretly doing something else.

Right now with all this too-clever scheming in the desert, this is how I see this matchup:

              Cardinals

              Vs.

              Packers
