  • Next Season teams will do what the Cardinals did.

They will study the tape and hit the weakness of Dom Capers scheme (if they have the QB to do so).

Dom will have the whole offesason to work on stacked receivers scattering over the middle of the Packer defense.

There is no coverage in a zone when the LB blitzes.
    Safeties playing too deep.
Overload that middle hole area with receivers
Stack the receivers at the line of scrimmage so all can't be bumped.

I suspect the Packers will not stand pat with their current defensive personnel. And the four rookies they were playing down the stretch will likely be better next year too. They got punked by an extremely talented offense, but this is no shock. In 4/6 losses they got lit up by better, more experienced personnel with good schemes.

Let them. Unless they are QBd by Favre, Ben R or Warner it will be nice of them to halve their offense.

But Rand is right, improvements are needed to be the best QBs who have good or better receivers.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

I guess I should have clairfied that.

They are good enough to go 12-4 and lose to good QB's like Brees, Manning, Warner, etc.

It is now when you start to nitpick a good team and see what can be improved.

        1) Scheme. The players will be better with the Capers scheme next season. There will be increased knowledge, experience and ability to adjust mid game.

        2) CB depth. Harris Woodson and Williams are a very good top 3. Better depth is needed.

        3) D line. The 3-4 doesn't allow much depth on the roster. Better depth would permit more rotation and fresher players on the field. Pickett (and Jolly if no CBA) should be resigned. A good rookie DE would sure help especially challenging Jolly or Jenkins as a pass rusher.

Warner is a 2 time NFL MVP who has been to the Super Bowl multiple times.
It is tough but Brees, Warner, Favre, and Manning will be around next season and they will have to find a way to slow or disrupt the great QB's to become a great team themselves.

          this!!

the Pack had a great season...much better than i thought they would. as much as our defense improved it's still the weaker side. can't wait for next season.

Are you seriously whining about the scheme? It's the same scheme that Pittsburgh used to win the Super Bowl last year. Against the Cardinals.

              Hmmmm. . . .

You think maybe after they lost that game, they sat down and thought up a few ways to attack that type of defense? They sure seemed loaded for bear. Everything they did we had no answer for.

                You're really overthinking it.

                We:

                1. Couldn't get any pass rush. This will have to improve to hang with the elite offenses. Remember how the Giants shut down the greatest offense ever? They dominated the line of scrimmage and were constantly in the backfield. Warner had time regardless as to whether we blitzed or not.

                2. didn't have the horses to match up. Fitzgerald is a slightly smaller, faster Jermichael Finley. Woodson did his best but he was outmatched and they needed to keep a safety over top of him. Then, the other receivers basically had one-on-one match-ups and without a pass rush, any quality QB is going to pick you apart.

                3. The Packers defense was vastly overrated. They had two quality wins against Dallas (very hot at the time) and Baltimore, but basically everytime they played a top-tier QB (other than Romo) w/ a good OL they were picked apart.

This was a year of transition. The Packers need to find better body types and athletes to take over for Cullen Jenkins, AJ Hawk, Atari Bigby, Brad Jones and probably Al Harris. Tramon is an okay #2 corner and a bit of a ball hawk but they really need to get another elite guy over the next few years to fill the void.

                      I don't. Usually they're full of stupid.

For the record, I agree with Wallbangers.

This would be a good talking point if the team did this. But the safeties were not following Fitz. Woodson was. If they send four receivers into a pattern, two receivers are singled. If they send 5, then 3 are singled.

Singling with Linebackers when Warner is throwing.
