That may be, but on the other hand it's not as if they will have to dismantle anything before they can start setting up Martz's offense.

The really strange part of this is going to be watching how Martz's offense which is predicated on rapid scores meshes with Lovie's defense. If the offense starts malfunctioning, that defense is going to make this year's Bears defense look healthy and well rested by comparison.

The sidelines will be more fun to watch then the action on the field on lake shore drive this year.

Martz has been very successful at developing QB's, so it will be interesting to see if he can get Cutler straightened out. Even Jon Kitna had a 4000+ yard passing season with Martz as OC. Still, Martz was criticized for the pass-happy offense he put together there.

Forte is a poor man's Marshall Faulk. Luckily for us they don't have the high draft picks to pair Cutler with an elite receiving prospect.

He has a pass-happy offense that enables QBs to put up huge yardage numbers. Let's not confuse that with developing QBs. Kitna had 4000+ yds, but more INTs than TDs.

Try to tell Kurt Warner and Marc Bulger that her doesn't develop quarterbacks. I'm not saying he'll turn the Bears into an offensive powerhouse, but I think there's a good chance he'll get more out of Cutler than Ron Turner did.

So the aging Bears defense is now going to have to win in offensive shootouts?

Egads...the Jay Cutler signing is going to doom the Bears for a decade.

I am not celebrating yet. Martz is a bona fide coordinator, not the occasionally successful Turner type. If anyone can get that passing game moving, its him. Comparison's to his stint in Detroit might not be applicable because the Bears have recently had a better running game.

Its going to be a question of whether they can rebuild an Offensive Line to let him do what he wants.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

They are in trouble. No 1st and 2nd round pick in 2010, and no 1st and 3rd round pick in 2011. They don't have the OL anymore to be a ball control team even if Martz wanted to do that. In 2 years I think the Lions will be better than the Bears.
