Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves. The 2011 draft happens after the the current CBA would expire completely. Clffy and his agent may get his guaranteed money up as high as possible, which would make 2010's uncapped year (possibly Cliffy's last) cost a hell of a lot more than whatever his annual figure is.
You can't blame Cliffy for trying to get the best deal he can, and it appears he may be in a good spot, but you can't blame Thompson for looking out for the Packers interests either. Say no to a long-term deal and big upfront money to Clifton. That's exactly the kind of deal to avoid for a declining 33-year-old LT with the injury history he has.Comment

Clifton has been here 10 years, he's a quiet guy that seems to like small town Green Bay, and he probably appreciates a coach that gives him time off every week.
