  • Ok, lets start by saying there is no way in hell the Jags pick here. They traded this years 2nd pick to draft Derrick Cox last year. They absolutely MUST get Tebow in this draft. Much like baseballs Marlins, Jacksonville is hemorrhaging money and Tebow will fill that need first and foremost. 3 touches a game in the wildcat offense equals perpetual sellouts....Tebow is bigger in florida than most packerrats are with their spouses. Trading down and acquiring picks (one to waste on Tebow) will be the end result.

    BUT....since I have to make a pick.

    Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
In 2009, Morgan had 12.5 sacks and 18.5 tackles for a loss. A high motor guy who lives in the backfield is just what Jack Del Rio loves....see Aaron Kampman. Morgan is the best football playing end in the draft. His measurables are solid and his production is big. He plays the run and the pass (see Kampman). He isn't an elite edge rusher, but uses his high motor and variety of moves to collapse a pocket (see Kampman).

But they signed Kampman you say! Well, they also had 14 sacks all of 2009 and AK won't solve that problem alone. Add to that, in the last 2 drafts they doubled on positions with the first 2 picks...including double failures at DE in 08. They don't seem to be afraid to throw shit at the wall until some sticks.

    14 sacks last year, FOURTEEN!!!!!

I don't know jm. I don't think I can wait that long. Isn't this precisely what teacher prep times are for?

Which reminds me of a story. In High School, we ran an NFL betting pool. We ranked the games and totaled points by the ranking. So you would give your lock pick a 14 rank, next best bet 13, etc. It wasn't Vegas or the spread, but it was flat gambling for 3 years. Tiebreaker was total points in the Monday Night Game to draw out the intrigue.

In this day and age, we probably would have been arrested. Especially when they found out we had four teachers and some parents in the thing. At $5 a pop, we had some pretty nice winnings. We weren't smart enough to collect the vig though.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

          • Last year the Broncos attempted a complete rebuilding job on the fly after hiring a new coach, switching to a 3-4 defense, and trading Jay Cuter for Kyle Orton and a couple of prized draft picks including the one that they will be using right here. They were much more successful than most people gave them a chance to be.

Going into the draft they are looking for a WR to replace or play with moody superstar Brandon Marshall, a backup QB who can possibly push Orton, and more help for the defense. Having acquired Brady Quinn in a deal with the new look Browns and with Bradford and Clausen off the board they can look elsewhere.

There are still a lot of directions this team could go and quality players at many positions to choose from... Bryan Baluga, Anthony Davis, Jason Pierre-Paul, Dez Bryant, and Rolando McClain. The Broncos however need one of these players more than the others though and he is actually the BPA at this spot.

With pick #11 the Denver Broncos select WR Dez Bryant from Oklahoma State.

This offense just isn't very good in the games BM doesn't play and with the trade lingering over their heads Bryant can come in and give them a chance at another #1. If the trade doens't occur they would have a new 3 Amigo's in Marshall, Bryant, and Royal. A win-win for the Broncos all the way around which would open up the field for last year's #1 K. Moreno.

I wish I could use prep time for something other than prep but between classes, On-the-Job reviews, BPA, and Anime Club I'm lucky if I get out of school prior to 6:30 on any given day. The life of a first year teacher, hopefully it will pay off next year.

Ever think about coming to Alaska to teach? Even for a short (3-4 years) period of time? Do you have a Masters?

                • first reach of the draft.....

Dez Bryant has fallen the pass few weeks to a late 1st to early 2nd round pick and looks like Demaryius Thomas of GT has taken over the top WR spot. Rolando McClain would have been a nice fit in the 3-4 defense.

True, but you pretty much expect that from the Raiders.

I thought Bryant is a decent value there. Thomas has risen above Benn lately but Bryant is still pretty good. I thought Campbell was a reach but considering he very well could go 8 to the Raiders..? Who knows???

I'd be excited right now if the real draft went this way. Both Bulaga and Davis still on the board...a good chance one will be available at 23.
