  • 10 yd splits

It looks as if one reason TT had CMIII rated so high in last year draft is because he had a blazing 10 yd split of 1.49 at the combine. It seems that this measurement is very important when determining suddenness and explosion. With that this article goes over the 10 yd splits for some of the best pass rushers in this years draft:

No one is overly impressive but Kindle sticks out like a sore thumb. I was pretty high on the guy until I saw this.

Which brings me to a question. Does anyone know a place where they post official comprehensive results of the combine? A lot of places have bits and pieces but none that I've seen have everything.

Todays 10 yd article to go along with that one.

Last year I remember seeing a site with 10yd splits for all the players listed but I have failed to find it again this year. Thing is I'm not sure theres a real "official" 10 yd time. Instead I think it all comes from scouts and timing recorded 40s.

Nice to see my boy Jason Worilds of VT being top on the list. He pretty much played with one arm all of last season and still was one of the top pass rushers in the ACC. He is not familiar with standing up at LB since he played DE in college but think he could make the switch. He also ran high 4.4 and low 4.5 in the 40 times. Projected as a 3rd to 4th round draft pick so if we decide draft at another position with our 1st round pick I sure wouldnt mind drafting him, this guy is going to be a player.

haha right after I posted this I found this on scout.com

        By Bill Huber -
Where did the Packers send their scouts on Thursday and who did they see? How about a possible first-round pick at cornerback, a second-round pick at outside linebacker and perhaps their future left tackle. Learn more in this exclusive.

I don't have a membership so I couldn't read which players they were talking about but that is Worilds picture on the front page.

Worilds is a player. I don't think he could make it out of the 3rd round. Being from NE Tennessee I get the "pleasure" of watching my fair share of VTech games. I see another player is also on the list of fastest 10 yrd splits that I'd love to see the Packers grab, CB Brandon Ghee from Wake.

They used to show the splits at 10 and 20 yards at nfl.com. But they are not there for this year.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Hawk also had impressive numbers in this category...so it would certainly appear this is a trend that TT looks for in his LBs.

nfldraftsscout.com got bought by cbs sports. I don't know the current address, but if you type in www.nfldraftscout.com, it will bring you there.

Anyway, you click on "prospect rankings", then you can browse by position or order. They give 10 yard splits, three cone, short shuttle, etc. . .

Great site. Best draft site anywhere if you ask me, and it's free!!

Top OLB's. I'll weed out short, light guys. Tall light guys like Brad Jones can always bulk up. Short light guys, I don't know if they translate well to our system so I'll weed them out.

                    Dekoda Watson 1.53
                    Kavell Conner 1.55
                    Dexter Davis 1.55
                    Jason Worlids 1.56
                    Arthur Moats 1.58
                    Eric Norwood 1.58
                    Ricky Sapp 1.60
                    Cameron Sheffield 1.60
                    AJ Edds 1.60
                    Adrian Tracy 1.60
                    Several other 1.60's
Brandon Graham 1.61, but much heavier than the others so I assume he'd bring more whollup when he gets there.

10 yard split shows explosion out of the gate for pass rushing.
3 cone shows agility in the open space

Here are some guys with impressive numbers in both: Look a little further into these guys. Watch their youtube clips. See if there are any that look tenacious and have histories of being hard workers, loving football and having the respect of teammates, opposing players and coaches. Chacnes are, if they were great college players, work hard and have stats like this, they'll be solid pros. Tough to project guys who have never played in coverage, so that part is up in the air a little. Matthews was a rare prospect that did it all in college and had the numbers.

Clay Matthews 1.49 10 yd, 6.90 3-cone (guy is a freak, nobody like him this year that I see)
Brad Jones 1.59 10 yd, 6.75 3-cone (tops in this class, guy is a freak)
Jason Worlids 1.56 10 yd, 6.95 3-cone Most impressive this year
                        Nate Triplett 1.60 10 yd, 7.02 3-cone
                        Dexter Davis 1.55 10 yd, 7.08 3-cone
                        Adrian Tracy 1.60 10 yd, 7.08 3-cone
                        Eric Norwood 1.58 10 yd, 7.08 3-cone
                        Daniel Te'o-Nesheim 1.61 10 yd, 6.91 3-cone
                        Jerry Hughes 1.63 10 yd, 6.99 3-cone
                        Derrick Morgan 1.60 10 yd, 7.12 3-cone

Adrian Tracy looked decent at LB in the texas vs nation game.
Eric Norwood played LB at EC. He's got the pass rush and serviceable coverage

Jason Worlids is a freak that had 32 freaking QB hurries last year
Physically, and production wise, Hughes as it. Can he pick up the LB position mentally? don't know enough about him, but he's interesting.

Those four stand out a bit to me. The others, I haven't gotten any real evidence that they can handle coverage, but I don't have all the information Ted has. Any of these 10 yd/3-cone guys could fit well with us (based on physical attributes) depending on what our guys know about them.

I believe that's our Brad, but there is a Brad Jones in this draft as well (this one's a CB).
