Quit your bitching. You can complain, but I think I like Nelson long-term more than every other WR taken in the first two rounds in that draft. The only thing keeping Nelson from putting up big numbers is Greg Jennings and Donald Driver. Most of those other teams don't have star receivers limiting the playing time of these guys. They just aren't that good yet.

Other WRs taken in the first two rounds that year

    Donnie Avery
    Devin Thomas
    James Hardy
    Eddie Royal
    Jerome Simpson
    Malcolm Kelly
    Limas Sweed
    Dexter Jackson

I'd love to see Blount in Green Bay. I think the location and the coaches would deal with the character issues pretty effectively. The talent is, without a doubt, all there.

Oh its no doubt in my mind that either Gerhart, Shipley, or Decker will be wearing green and gold when the season starts.
        Maybe all three!

Can someone give me a reason that Gerhart wouldn't be a 2nd round pick?

What about his credentials, other than not being a brother, keep him from being considered?

I think he's a perfect one cut back who would fit well in our system.

6 feet, 230, and the cracker churns and burns in a straight line. He won't get you the explosive play but a defense would not want to see him in the fourth quarter running clock and converting short yardage into first downs.

He'll make people forget about Touchdown Tommy Vardell.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

well, everybody always wants to try to hit a home run in round one and two
So my two reasons would be

                1. Limited upside
                2. Perhaps he's just not one of the top 64 players

I see your point. It IS a deep draft.

But Brandon Jackson seemed like more of a reach in round two than this kid.

This year every RB after the top two workhorse backs seems to bring questions about size or competing at the next level.

There's a bias at work imho, since Toby Gerhart seems like a lock in a possession-oriented offense.

i'll add a name to the return game and the WR group

jacoby ford. i watched quite a bit of clemson this year due to my man crush on CJ Spiller. well ford is his running mate and usually the only guy on the field faster the CJ.

he's a tiny wr like McCluster. once the guy gets the ball in his hands he has the ability to take it deep every time.

and he was the other return guy for clemson. Spiller got all the attention, but teams kicked to spiller because even if they kicked away from him, ford was just as scary

he's the ACC 60 meter champ, and he ran the fastest 40 at the combine

Don't we already have the black Toby Gerhart?

                      Ryan Grant?

Toby has good vision and can "Joystick" through the first wave of defenders. He doesn't clear and get the big home run the way that Grant occasionally does, but he does punish defenders and makes them work hard. He'd be a great 4th quarter RB the way that Marion the Barbarian is for Dallas.

                          One of his highlight reels:
