Morgan Burnett - Georgia Tech (HT: 6-1⅜ - WT: 209)
Projection: 4th Round
Positives: Has elite ballhawking skills, among the best in this draft, is able to clean jump routes to make a play (finished his career with 14 interceptions)... Good technique, footwork and hip movement, looks natural out of his breaks... Is always in position to make a play... Very instinctive, quickly recognizes run vs. pass plays... Is solid in man-to-man coverage, has played cornerback at times... Strong safety candidate, 235 career tackles, easily locates the ball, but could play either safety position... Very good combination of size and speed... Generally a reliable tackler, sheds blocks well... Does not make many mistakes, doesn't give up big plays... Should post good workout numbers, stock could rise in the post-season... Has a lot of upside, seems to get better with more experience and still has a lot of potential that can be developed.
Negatives: Though he reaches top speed quickly, doesn't have a second gear heading toward the sideline... Will take poor angles in pursuit and needs to rely on athleticism to recover... Can be out-muscled in the open field... Can play too high and will tackle with his shoulder, sometimes taking the worst of a hit... Inconsistent, will have a very impressive game, then a game where you hardly notice him... Did not match his sophomore production (seven picks) as a junior. To much of a good thing is an awesome thing

Tennessee just got Damian Williams. Great pick at this stage. One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

Bigby should still be on the team. He's better than anybody else we have as a backup, but Burnett and Collins should be our starting safeties.Originally posted by rbalohaYes. Put on good weight and knows the scheme.Originally posted by steve823That's what I said before. This must mean TT is high on Brad JonesOriginally posted by Lurker64Love this pick. I wonder what we're going to do at OLB though.
Maybe another Sharper. Bye Bye Bigby.
The backups we've had at S in recent memory? Simply execrable.</delurk>

While DE isn't a big need for the Packers, Purdue's Mike Neal gives them options. Both starting ends, Johnny Jolly and Cullen Jenkins, will be free agents after the 2010 season. And former 1st-round pick Justin Harrell hasn't stayed healthy.

Packers DL coach Mike Trgovac on Mike Neal: "Mike is a good athlete. The thing that impressed me was his ability to just punch guys, he's very strong at the point of attack. He benched 31 times, you can see it on tape. He has good feet....He was a good, hard-playing player. Hardly ever leaves a game."

Brute strength was the calling card for second-round pick Mike Neal at Purdue: "In college my strength definitely made up for, at times, my technique." Neal said he benched 510 pounds in college. "I am a hard-nosed football player," he said. Thanks Ted!

Did we trade with M1 for this pick?
TT on Burnett
Why trade up? Jokes with Wilde he must stop. thought board was working against them. Wanted to move up rather than wait.
Athletic, good ball skills. Junior, TT watched tape himself since he hadn't prepared for him like Senior. Seems bright. Can play deep, cover and come up and support run.
Neal: Impressive in All-Stars games. Herock and Schneider scouted him at his games. Fits the system. Athletic, pass rusher good fit in 3-4.
Does he trade up now that team is deeper? Has some effect. This is what he means by the board getting soft on him in round 3. Players left on board that could make the team in the position group were getting fewer and farther between.
Burnett can play early, will be thrown right in. Has good ball skills, maybe not unique but better than average. Good anticipation, plays well in space. Does well in centerfielder role. Knows angles and plays ball well. Made the catches when Ted saw him with the opportunity.
Made more than the normal number of calls looking to go up. Slot chart (picks worthy of Round 3 pick by grade) was getting short.
Neal: Will get a chance to play, if by substitution only. Pass rush certainly will get a chance.
Does not mean they give up on Bigby at all. Worried about injuries here, just like on the O line.
Doesn't like the nightime drafting. Asks the reporters if they like it. I think Ted has been drinking.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
