  • Could someone please fill in the blanks for me?

What the fuck Ted? We don't need a Tightend! But Arthur Moats was still available!!! Why the hell didn't we address the ______________ position? I guess that _____________ could end up being a player. Oh we really do need depth there. Oh wow, this kid did _________ and _________! This kid could be great!

Penn State suspends him from the team until the conclusion of spring practice. Sentenced to 15 month rehabilitation program. Police find a small amount of marijuana in apartment he shares with A.J. Wallace, Abe Koroma and Maurice Evans. He is suspended for the season opener (Coastal Carolina.) Though he does not play, he is reinstated the following week (Oregon State) when information indicates he is not connected to the marijuana. 2009: Head coach Joe Paterno says Quarless has been a leader this year.

        • Baltimore had a good draft
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

03/23/2010 - PRO DAY RESULTS: Penn State's pro day speaks for itself. A number of highly touted prospects worked out, and most of them posted outstanding numbers. The March 17 event was held indoors on FieldTurf in front of 25 team representatives. Both of the 40-yard dashes were run in the same direction, and some eye-opening times were recorded. Here is a look at the top players who participated: TE Andrew Quarless (6-4 1/2, 252) ran 4.57 and 4.57 in the 40, had a 9-11 broad jump, a 4.57 short shuttle and a 7.29 three-cone drill. He did not lift. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

              • He's a promising receiver, good athlete, unfinished as a blocker. Has some character concerns.

Simply a "this player is good value at this point in the draft" pick, nothing to do with need. Classic Ted.

                • He can run a 4.5 40. Other than that nothing really stands out.

I don't like this pick either. I'd have taken Moats or that WR from South Florida.

                    6'4" 250 4.79
                    Strength -
Has good size and arm length. Is consistent outlet/possession receiver aligned tight or as an H-back or in the slot. Is a position/seal blocker who works hard to sustain run and pass blocks. Shows some ability to mirror pass rushers' moves in tight spaces. Displays the toughness to go into a crowd, absorb hits and hold on to the ball.

                    weaknesses -
Is a "slow-twitch" athlete who has little burst, acceleration or quicknes in his routes. Lacks speed to be a downfield threat. Displays only average initial quickness to get off the line. Lacks elusiveness after the catch. Displays only functional strength to drive block in the running game. Is sometimes immature and doesn't always work hard.

                    bottom line -
Quarless is a developmental prospect. He has the size and athleticism to become a quality backup and special teams player as a rookie before starting down the road.
"I would love to have a guy that always gets the key hit, a pitcher that always makes his best pitch and a manager that can always make the right decision. The problem is getting him to put down his beer and come out of the stands and do those things." - Danny Murraugh

                    • I think the new draft format has fucked Thompson's mind. I've always been one to defend his curious behaviour, but after this draft, I'm really wobbling.

                        • So we draft a position that is not needed and the guy we pick has a bunch of issues with the law. Great.

You're probably right, but I don't think it's a good decision. I don't like Lee but there's much better things we could have done there.
