  • Packers Line 2010 and beyond

for the first time in years it looks good to me:
We can have seperate backups at each postition if 10 are kept.
Each Position has am experienced starter and a promising (more or less ) backup.
They have to decide if Lang is a Tackle or Guard ans settle on this postion.

    2010 Starter (Backup)

    LT: Chad Clifton (Bryan Bulaga)
    LG: Jason Spitz (Daryn Colledge)
    C: Scott Wells (Evan Dietrich-Smith)
    RG: Josh Sitton (Stanley Daniels)
    RT: Mark Tauscher (T.J. Lang)

    Gone: Allen Barbre, Breno Giacomini

Maybe they keep Giacomini and Colledge is gone and Lang plays Guard.

    2010 Alternative

    LT: Chad Clifton (Bryan Bulaga)
    LG: Jason Spitz (T.J. Lang)
    C: Scott Wells (Evan Dietrich-Smith)
    RG: Josh Sitton (Stanley Daniels)
    RT: Mark Tauscher (Breno Giacomini)

    Gone: Allen Barbre, Daryn Colledge

    The Future:

    LT: Bryan Bulaga
    LG:
    C: Evan Dietrich-Smith?
    RG: Josh Sitton
    RT: T.J. Lang

Without any additions at least 3 Postions seem to be settled for a long time. And Spitz, Wells, Colledge (if kept) aren't that old either and at least one should be able to play 3 or 4 years.

Who is Stanley Daniels? And if he sticks, can we call him "Stan-Dan"?

They were a great band back in the 70s.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Why is Barbre gone? I think he sticks this year.

I'm not ready to give up on Barbre, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if Colledge was cut.

I would think the future would be the following:

                  LG: ??
C: Spitz (if recovered completely from back injury)
                  RG: Sitton
                  RT: Lang

Guessing that as long as Wells holds up our line next very well next year would be the above where Spitz slides to LG and Wells plays C.
60% of the time it works every time.

No, that's a OLB from the Steeler Super Bowl teams.

I'd rather see Buluga only back up one position, LT. If Lang starts at LG, then hopefully Barbre really improves in his second year at tackle because I don't think we can count on Taush all year. I guess we could keep Colledge around to back up the LG and RT positions. Spitz at RG and C.

                          Clifton/Buluga
                          Lang/Colledge
                          Wells/Spitz
                          Sitton/Spitz
                          Tauscher/Colledge

That would be the top 8, then a possible draft pick, Deitrich, Breno and Barbre are battling it out for one or two slots.

Bulaga, Lang and Sitton are nice building blocks for the future.
