The reason Bush may be in trouble is that Derrick Martin replaced him last year as their special teams ace. The Packers have moved Blackmon to safety, so they're apparently not thrilled with Bush's progress there.
I wonder about some of those numbers though in Vince's post. Could the fact that the Packers had a punter who kicked neither long nor high make some of the Packers look worse than they really are?I can't run no more

The thing that comprises almost all of Bush's bad rating at profootballfocus.com is his penalty rating. That accounts for -4.0 of his -4.5. Obviously that has been a problem for him. I think he's a little on the "dumb, hyperactive little kid" side, personally. I still say he makes the roster though.
As far as moving Blackmon to safety being an indictment of Bush, I doubt it. If it was, he wouldn't be playing above Underwood on the CB depth chart right now.

BWah Ha HA hA!
If that wasn't deliberate comic timing it was serendipitous.
I hope Jarret Bush got a certificate suitable for framing to celebrate his Special Team efforts.[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

I looked thru that whole fuckin' post and Bush wasn't even in the first list?
I thought I was goin' blind!
His memorable play was 3 years ago? The guy is flat out not worth his salary.

Bush today was offsides on a field goal, and later made a great play to down a punt at the 1. Kind of a microcosm of his career. Ability hampered by inconsistency.I can't run no more

That's it in a nutshell. Kid is just a spazz. I'm sure his enthusiasm was on full display on both plays.Originally posted by JoemailmanBush today was offsides on a field goal, and later made a great play to down a punt at the 1. Kind of a microcosm of his career. Ability hampered by inconsistency.

Not odd at all. He didn't even really play in the CFL.Originally posted by GuinessAnyone else find it odd that they quote his college stats instead of his CFL stats?Originally posted by packrulzThe Packers have yet to announce the signing of any draft picks, but the roster size was at 79 before Friday’s transactions. With an 80-man limit, some players were bound to be released to make room for the signing of draft picks.
Harrell, the former Texas Tech star who threw for 5,111 yards and 45 touchdowns as a senior in 2008, was signed by the Packers May 20 after playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League last season. The Packers only kept two quarterbacks on their active roster in 2009. Harrell (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) is third on the depth chart behind Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn. Chris Pizzotti was released when Harrell signed.
“We really felt Graham came in and had a heck of a workout,” coach Mike McCarthy said after an organized team activity practice June 2. “He had the opportunity in Cleveland and had some very good college tape, and had some very good grades from our scouting department.
“I was impressed with his velocity. That’s something that was probably a little in question coming out of college in my opinion.”
Harrell had a workout with the Cleveland Browns before signing with Saskatchewan last year, then worked out for the Browns again this year before signing with the Packers.
I would think CFL is a bit more relevant - it is a pro league, and although it obviously isn't on par with NFL, it's more relevant than the college game! At least all the guys are getting paid (unlike college, where only some do
)
I would guess it's because most in the US can better relate to college numbers than CFL numbers. Certainly in the CFL though, there's a more homegenous talent base, no Div IIA teams showing up for powderpuff home opener games.
He went in there with a "vet" already at QB and supposedly never really got a chance to do his thing.

There are reasons why the Packers were 4-4 in the first half of last season, and 7-1 in the second half. One of the reasons was that the kickoff coverage was much improved in the second half. The Packers averaged giving up just over 20 YPR in the second half, with just one return over 40 yards. The Packers have replaced Kapinos, as you perhaps sardonically noted, which should help the punt coverage teams, as low, short kicks was a major problem last year. I know it's tempting to some to think that other teams castoffs are better than what the Packers have, but sometimes the best improvement comes from within. And sometimes a position coach can't cure a bad situation completely in his first season.Originally posted by BretskyLast year our special teams sucked....so it's a good thing we went out and got..........................

ST coverage is less of a concern than returns. Perhaps those ST demons the Packers keep shuffling around at the back of the depth chart can tackle. But they seem to have problems blocking.
Either that or perhaps the returners are below average as well.
Actually, if you take both above situations and add in penalties, I think their sum is 32. Last in the league.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
