I can't see San Diego going far this year. Their secondary is a mess. Merriman just hasn't been the same player, and I suspect it's not just because it takes more than a year to recover from a serious knee injury. Their left tackle and one of their top two receivers are threatening to hold out for the first half of the season...and AJ Smith has already shown conclusively with Schottenheimer how much he values having control over every aspect of the team, so it would not surprise me a bit to see those holdouts become reality. And, of course, the head coach is Norv Turner. That last detail should be all we need to know.

I don't think Norv Turner is all that bad, I just don't think he is that great either. Honestly, him and MM are really on the same level until they can prove otherwise in the playoffs.
