  • Kiss of Death #268

First, I know that this topic is covered in another thread, but I wanted to take a slightly different look at it. After all, the number one team in the highly biased fan poll is the Packers and the second is the Vikings.

That made me wonder since it seems most people expect to at least see the NFC represented by a team from the north.

Where I last saw it, the Packers had a 22.8% expectation of Super Bowl victory and the Vikings had a 14.2% expectation, a difference of 8.6% which is a greater percentage than all the other teams's expectations of winning except the Ravens'.

A couple other things of note when you break down the numbers:

    1) In the NFC, the Packers are expected to be in the Superbowl 42% of the time and teh Vikings 26%.
    2) This means that two out of every three voters (or just one guy who voted a lot (MPF) thought that a team from the NFC north would be in the Superbowl
    3) 37% of the voters thought an NFC north team will win the Superbowl

So, does this mean anything? Of course not. But the games still start tomorrow.

"I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything."

Seriously though, I am so tired of the hype because that generally leads to soul crushing disappointment.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure the hype is out of control.
