You mean the trade where Devine traded 2 1st round picks, 2 2nd round picks, and a 3rd round pick for a washed up veteran? That trade?

It was a rumor from Lake one of the DJs. I still think its Vincent Jackson and I would think that he could come back after the suspension.Swede: My expertise in this area is extensive. Truly one of the two worst trades in history. Dan Devine was a disaster.
Trivia question: Which coach did the Packers also consider and almost hire, but rather, elected to go with Devine in 1971?

WOW, i had never heard he was a candidate. do you think he would have left PSU? i guess he turned down jobs with the steelers and michigan and a job including part ownership with the pats.Originally posted by vinceOriginally posted by mraynrandThat's the Dan Devine Dance: A one and a two, and a one, two, three...Originally posted by JoemailmanYou mean the trade where Devine traded 2 1st round picks, 2 2nd round picks, and a 3rd round pick for a washed up veteran? That may well be the worst trade ever, ever, ever in Packer history - hell, in NFL history. In sports history. In the history of all trades in the universe. I was fourteen years old when it happened, and even I knew it was stoopid.Originally posted by JoemailmanYou mean the trade where Devine traded 2 1st round picks, 2 2nd round picks, and a 3rd round pick for a washed up veteran? But what makes it worse is this quote from Devine: ""We had a lot of discussions," he said. "We were thinking about Archie Manning of the Saints, too."
Manning could play. For those of you old enough to remember, he was a hell of a QB with no talent around him. If you're going to give up two firsts, two thirds, and a second, can't you at least get Archie Manning, and not a washed up 34 year old QB??
BTW, I had forgotten that Norm Snead was still in the league. He was a pretty good qb, but damn old by then."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

Vikings | Not looking to add a WR

Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said the team is not looking to add another wide receiver after the team's receivers did not make a big impact in Week 1, Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "I'm not thinking that way right now," Childress said. "I'm not thinking about adding another body. I know those guys weren't as involved as we would have liked them involved. But I think it had something to do with how they were kind of playing their coverage."

+1Originally posted by redwow, what i saw last night was not a lack of talent at WR, it was a complete lack of favre being on the same page with his receivers other then shiancoe
and IMO that comes from favre's holdout for all of training camp and pre season. like i said in the game thread, brett might not have needed the camp but the players around him sure needed the time with him to get on the same page
and if you bring in vincent jackson(who is suspended for at least 3 games and maybe up to 6) or some other WR its going to take time some them to get in sync with favre
i'm loving this, not only is favre sending them at top speed to the poor house, but he's going to make them give up their future to win now
what i saw last night was a mess of a team on offense that needs a lot more then one more big player to fix whats wrong with them
