Pat Lee, at this moment, seems to be the most useless player on the team. At least the team likes McDonld's upside.

So he better enjoy the chunk of change he's making now.

These are salary cap numbers (if there were a cap this year) which I'd say is probably pretty close to actual salary expenses. In any event, the team's salaries are more than 40% higher than what was previously listed. The Packers would have the 3rd highest payroll in the league this year according to this list, which must be citing figures from prior to the free agency period.

In any event, the Packers appear to be spending heavily in this uncapped year for a number of their core players.

It's a bit too premature to be re-upping Rodgers I'd say and he of course had a big payday a couple years ago now, but he, Finley and Sitton in particular appear to be grossly underpaid. Tramon Williams has a one-year deal this year. Perhaps this would be a good time to work with them before the deadline for putting salary on this year's books expires.

Maybe I got caught napping, but how did Collins end up with that number? Interesting that the 4 highest paid, and 5 of the top 6 are defensive players.

          Thanks for the info.

It is hard to really get a handle on this since I know that many contracts are weighted heavily on the front or back ends. So some of the low salaries might be due to having already got their money on the fontend. Also, don't the cap numbers include some carry-forward values from the past years?

Still, these are probably the best numbers to use absent a full multi-year analysis.

The Packers still weight the front of contracts, but not as severely as they did when Thompson first came on board. And the Packers did not dump large portions of contracts into this cap year as the Cowboys and Redskins did. However, I think their actually 2010 salaries paid would still be quiet high, given the contracts to Clifton, Collins and Tauscher.

Here's the full league salary list. If you believe the JSO figure ($137.8 million), which I'd tend to because it's broken down by player, the Packers have the 6th highest payroll this year at this poiint.

On Saturday, we mentioned that three teams have committed less than $90 million to player compensation in the uncapped year.

              Redskins: $178.2 million.
              Cowboys: $166.5 million.
              Saints: $145.0 million.
              Vikings: $143.4 million.
              Seahawks: $138.8 million.
              Jets: $135.7 million.
              Packers: $135.3 million.
              Raiders: $135.2 million.
              Colts: $133.1 million.
              Bears: $131.9 million.
              Eagles: $131.0 million.
              Patriots: $128.8 million.
              Giants: $128.6 million.
              49ers: $125.9 million.
              Dolphins: $123.8 million.
              Texans: $123.1 million.
              Lions: $122.9 million.
              Steelers: $122.9 million.
              Browns: $122.8 million.
              Ravens: $122.3 million.
              Falcons: $118.5 million.
              Titans: $118.0 million.
              Panthers: $110.9 million.
              Rams: $109.1 million.
              Chargers: $108.0 million.
              Bills: $105.3 million.
              Broncos: $102.9 million.
              Bengals: $100.8 million.
              Cardinals: $97.8 million.
              Jaguars: $89.5 million.
              Chiefs: $84.5 million.
              Buccaneers: $80.8 million.

looks like cheap ass ted opened up the purse this year.

i really wasn't expecting to see that kind of money spent by us. i think a lot of guys must have had their deals redone to use the no cap season to our advantage.

should leave us in great shape for the future

if you're a fan of the chiefs, jags or bucs why would you spend any money to go watch those teams play when its clear the teams won't spend money to give you a good showing?

I'm not sure those numbers are correct. Per the JSO on 3/12/10, Nick Collins will make $14,000,000 in 2010. He will then get $12,700,000 total over the last 3 years of the contract.

Basically NC contract was 4 years, $26,700,000. The original $3.3M tender plus the 3 year, $23.4M extension.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.
