  • I am thread jumping so I apologize if this has been covered.

Please tell me that someone else saw that most of the first half running yardage for the Bills came when they went 3 wide and ran against our nickel. I do not want to have to worry about run defense while I am worrying about pass defense.

Though my concern about pass rush is less now that it was over the offseason. Moving Matthews and having him opposite Jenkins really has seemed to work. Also, I like the work Raji is doing.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

It looked like they would be tied or behind by a point near the end of the second quarter. The Packers offense seemed to strip a gear.

Was Chillar playing linebacker in the nickel? And who were the down linemen?

By the way, how did Shields play today? And did Underwear play?

Hawk played in the nickel early, Chillar played late. Not sure of the split.

The only time I heard Shields' name called today was when he made a good tackle to prevent a first down on a third down passing play. The Bills passing offense is kind of offensive, to be honest.

Yes...we've been in our base defense much of the game. Hawk has a number of tackles already. The notion that he isn't good is inaccurate. Sure, he's probably not going to live up to his draft position...but he's a solid player.
Radio interview with M3 said they had a nickel package with Hawk for today which is why he and Chillar split time in the nickel. They also ran Psycho, which has 5 LBs so they are both on the field with Jenkins (I think) as the only D lineman.

Yeah. We dominate bad teams on our off days.
psst - you did see the 2nd quarter right? When we made Lynch look like a probowler, instead of a 3rd string rb?

Dom made some great adjustments at halftime, THEN we dominated.

Better to have a bad quarter in the 2nd than the 4th! That's progress!

Nickel down lineman were Raji and Jenkins with Pickett in for each occasionally. LBs depending on down and distance were Barnett, Jones, Matthews and Hawk/Chillar. I think the Packers played Hawk if they expected some kind of run. I bet they scouted the Bills to be more likely to run in 3rd and medium than other teams. 3rd and long I would think they went more traditional nickel with Chillar.

Also played Psycho (Jenkins, 5 LB, 5 DBs) in obvious passing situations.

In the second quarter, the Bills backs would just stutter step behind the lineman, almost like a screen, drawing in LBs to be blocked by the O lineman. Then they would scoot through a seam, even though it seemed they were surrounded.

This was less effective in the 2nd half but for reasons that are unclear for me. They may have played more base, simply not fearing Edwards.

Chillar got serious snaps, but not as many as last week and reports of Hawk's demise were premature. I did not see Underwood.

                    Fritz, Underwood was inactive.

Neal is probably back next week. Which will round out the D line better.

I will say this, late in the game CJ Wilson was getting some pressure in the middle. He wasn't exactly beating a world class opponent, still, nice to see.

Radio said Clifton had knee trouble this week in practice with swelling. I did not see him, but was only with the radio in the first quarter. Did Bulaga replace him or start for him?

i honestly don't think it was as close as the score shows

we took a break in the 2nd quarter but other then that the game was never close to being in doubt

                            • Even JSO had a good game so far. They answered the question I mentioned above. Clifton was pulled halfway through the second quarter. McCarthy was saying he needs time to get healthy and everyone else from Philbin on down was busy saying nothing.

I almost was going to be looking to do the same thing. fortunately, I get two sets of local networks and one of them decided to carry the packers. they must have just switched today because when i checked earlier this week it wasn't going to be on.

you still have time to find a good bar to catch the game!
We went to our local watering hole that has a room set aside for us Packer fans and the damn satellite was on the fritz!!! I'll have to wait until the replay on NFL Network later this week to see more besides a couple of highlights on BSPN.
