I am confused, I thought the defender has to turn around and play the ball; on that play to Quarless in the end zone, the defender never turned to face the pass. I feel we get called for ticky tack pi calls so can someone please tell me why it wasn't pi?

he also has to initiate the contact, which he didn't. He just stood there with his arms up, he didn't initiate any contact with Quarless, and the ball hit him in the head with quarless jumping tad backwords as if the ball was going over his head.
aka, their wasn't really any contact initiated by the defender to draw a flag. You don't have to be looking back at the ball if your not commiting contact.

I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

Re: Can someone please tell me???
Which is what I've been trying to say, but other people on here have stated that there doesn't have to be contact. To me, it's seems like common sense that if the defender doesn't contact the receiver, there shouldn't be pass interference. That's just good defense.Originally posted by Joemailman"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. It used to be a face guarding call, but the rules were relaxed a while ago.Originally posted by mraynrandassuming there's no contactOriginally posted by HarveyWallbangersWhich is what I've been trying to say, but other people on here have stated that there doesn't have to be contact. That's why the receiver has to slow it up and force the contact as he's adjusting to the underthrown ball. With a little bit of contact that gets called every time when the reciever comes back for the ballTERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Yep. Just a little inexperience by the receiver...Originally posted by BretskyThat's why the receiver has to slow it up and force the contact as he's adjusting to the underthrown ball. True. But Rodgers was under pressure and that ball was underthrown as he couldn't step up. A throw to the back corner would have been wide open.Originally posted by BretskyOriginally posted by SmidgeonYep.
