  • Eric LeGrand paralyzed below the neck

The 6-foot-2, 275-pound junior defensive tackle suffered a spinal cord injury at the C-3 and C-4 level of his vertebrae while making a tackle on a kickoff late in Rutgers' 23-20 overtime victory over Army on Saturday at New Meadowlands Stadium.

LeGrand lay motionless for seven minutes before his neck was immobilized. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where emergency surgery was performed to stabilize the spine.
Sad news. My Prayers go out for him today.

That was awful news. Thankfully treatment of those sorts of injuries has progressed a long way in the last 20 years. In any case, he has a challenging road to recovery. Here's hoping and praying his recovery progresses well.

This is terrible. I hope they can work some miracles for him.

In totally unrelated news, Junior Seau drove his car off a cliff after being arrested in a domestic dispute. He received only minor injuries.

While the killers in high places
        Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
