    With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
    Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
    A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

      in before "Sign Merriman"!

Briggs & Bowling Green went against WI a few years back and he played really well against Joe Thomas. So I guess he was with the 49ers for a bit but stuck behind some pretty good LBs out there and went to the PS. Some niner fans were wanting to see him over Ahmed Brooks at OLB. Broncos promptly signed him, put him on the PS to activate later this season, and we swoop in and nabbed him.

Briggs is Bowling Green's all-time sack leader and was undersized coming out of college (230 range) so he went undrafted. He's supposedly around 250 right now. HGH? Good.

      Sources:
A Falcons forum talking about Briggs after a strong preseason performance against the Colts:

49er/Broncos fans seem to really like him:

So we'll see. I like all these diamond-in-the-rough TT moves that only sometimes work out. I understand the masses in wanting a big name but he could be fun to watch if he can contribute on ST early on.

Nice to get some linebacker depth and this Briggs kid might turn out to be good. But why didn't we get some D-line help? Our d-line is in pretty bad shape, especially if Jenkins and Pickett are out.

Yeah, that was my first thought: "what, no DL?". It must just be that big body types that are in good enough shape for the NFL are harder to find. I really don't know.

            classic TT juke move

we need a o-lineman, he brings in a second punter.

we need a wr, he brings in another long snapper

he's been screwing with by head like this since the gado year

Word is we acquired RB James Davis from Cleveland (Clemson). One-cut guy. Big play ability.

              Looking for something official...

That's not entirely a fair analogy. I mean, it's not like we don't need linebackers. We need other positions too, but we also need linebackers.

agreed, but we also are in dire need of DL's. They had an offensive lineman playing DL last week! I didn't see them sub a TE for Linebacker.

I also agree that it may be tougher to find big bodies in football shape this time of year and those LB's could also help out on Special Teams.

The Thunder to Spiller's Lightning. Can't go wrong with a guy who forced CJ to share touches.

I had to stop watching Youtube highlights in case the early report is wrong.

                          Isn't the trade deadline past?
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.
