while the helmets looked like poop, we didn't play like poop, so Im thankful. Terrible uniforms. Old era's just don't translate well to the modern era.

As throwback uniforms go, those weren't bad. The brown helmets didn't really work, but I guess that was the color of the leather helmets they wore back in 1929.I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

I really don't like the throwbacks, and I hope we don't see them again. I have two reasons:
1) I really don't like it when a team's colors change because they put on the alternate uniforms. You can change the emphasis (e.g. the Dolphins' orange jerseys) or the shade (e.g. the Chargers' power blues), but don't change the colors.
2) Blank helmet shells simply don't look good. I understand that the Packers throwback helmets were supposed to mimic the old style leather helmets, but the problem is that old-style leather helmets were given visual texture just due to their construction, but modern plastic shells are just smooth. If you really wanted to mimic the old style leather helmet, you should try to mimic the visual texture of the leather helmet with something on the modern shell. The helmets currently worn by the Michigan Wolverines are an attempt at this, as they're a reference to the way their leather helmets were made, with alternating blue and yellow strips of leather.
But NFL rules prevent a team from introducing a new alternate uniform for 5 years, so we're stuck with these as alternates until 2015... but if we're going to do an alternate jersey, why not try to do something along the lines of Ron Wolf's proposed uniform redesign, where the Green is a deeper green and the gold is actually gold, and not yellow. I'd be interested in seeing how that actually looks.</delurk>

"Unwashed". Does this mean I can buy Howard Green's pants with crotch sweat intact? AND I can spend up to $8000 for them? YAY!! [/sarcasm]Originally posted by Iron Mike View PostYikes....look at the price to pick up a game day uni:

I think at some point, you just have to say "no". And "no" means "no": not "use more force".

No respect for Jarrett Bush, even from the Packer's Pro Shop! His uni and helmet are $800 each, the lowest price point - other uni's at that amount are guys who didn't see the field, or rookies who are on ST only - Josh Gordy, Francois, Crabtree. Swain and Underwood's are $1500. I think Bush is the only non-rookie to have his gear priced at $800!
btw only Rodger's gear is $8k. Jennings, Driver and at $7500
edit: Rodger's stuff is gone...guess someone bought it!--
Imagine for a moment a world without hypothetical situations...
