Favre tries to profit from end of streak

Posted by Mike Florio on December 13, 2010, 7:30 PM EST
Apparently, a salary of $16 million for 2010 isn’t enough.
Not long after Vikings quarterback Brett Favre was placed on the inactive list for Monday night’s game against the Giants, Favre’s official web site began selling a signed football commemorating his 297-game streak of starts.
For the low, low price of $499.99.
“One of the most historic streaks ever in all of sports has come to an end,” the message reads on Favre’s site. “The NFL’s own Ironman Brett Favre has ended his consecutive starting game streak at 297. Chances are if your under 40 you don’t remember a time in the NFL with out Brett Favre playing on Sunday. This is a monumental feat especially at the quarterback position. Just consider since 1992 the Chicago Bears have watched over 20 QB’s start for their team; and the average career length in the NFL is less than four years.”

Kay, but let's discuss it further in the new camera thread in the Romper Room for pete's sake.

Honestly, I know what's wrong with the camera thread. No samples. We need samples of the Canon you have. Hi-Res ones. I'll beg Joe to open the Garbage can, and you can post your naked pix there. We'll be able to evaluate pixels and borders that way.

Good luck Brett, It's been our pleasure watching you do what you do for the last 17+ years!
I’m with you Gex! Thanks for being one of the few to stick around…well, kinda stick around.

Some fail to look at the situation from the athletic point of view. So obsessed with him leaving the Packers they fail to look at his achievements and appreciate them….from the athlete/game perspective. What he did over the years was amazing. I’m sorry some can’t see that. Maybe some day you will.

I’m sure it will be an extremely “unpopular” view…once again, but I’ll explain why I no longer visit PR every day….several times a day. I realized that not only am I a Packer fan but I’m a fan of great athletes. I realized, which was really sad to me, that by reading day in and day out on this site all the hate that was expressed toward a one time Packer great was making me angry at the Packer team. That was wrong and that’s why I quit visiting. I didn’t want to feel that way for a team I’ve supported my whole life. I then realized there are a lot of people out there that feel the way I do. I’m sorry, but you really can be a Packer fan and not be obsessed and hate-driven toward Brett Favre.

Good luck Brett and thank you for the memories!

Like Ripken, it came with compromises. But its a remarkable and almost unimaginable record. And Peyton doesn't look quite so invulnerable now.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

To me, the games streak is the only record Favre has that is really impressive. All the others resulted from that record. For example, Manning was ahead of Favre in all categories (except interceptions) for the first 200 starts or so of their careers. Favre really didn't do anything the other good QBs haven't done, he has just done it for a lot longer than they have.

We know what he has accomplished on the field and what he did for GB, He was fun to watch and gave us a lot of thrills playing but we don't have to admire him for his off the field stuff.

Hey, we're talking about Brett Favre a lot tonight! Wonder why! His 297-game streak is over and he's selling footballs to commemorate that and his backup is playing all right against the New York Giants except for on handoffs and Peyton Manning is your new streak leader and OH MY GOD look at that hideous purple hand on the Gunslinger (warning: his hand is really gross):
