I don't really care. Just pointing out there are similarities between the two. Similar size. Both played in the same conference with similar results. Both are athletic. Both have big arms. Both have questionable accuracy (despite having great completion % in college). Both played in systems where the transition to the NFL might be tough. Race isn't the only reason they are compared. Now, Netwon is more athletic, and he appears to be a harder worker. Maybe he's the next Big Ben. Maybe he's the next JaMarcus Russell. Maybe he falls somewhere in between--like Daunte Culpepper or Josh Freeman. Outside of Big Ben, I'm not sure there's a big, athletic white dude to compare him to. Maybe Ryan Leaf. He was big and athletic. So was David Klingler.
Yes they have similairies but they dont have similiar playing styles. Yes Russell has the size and cannon arm like Cam but he doesnt have the mobility and improvisational skills which make him more comparable to Big Ben IMO. I mean did you guys actually watch these games or just going by what you see on ESPN? This guy ran for 200 yards three weeks in arow against Kentucky, Arkansas, and LSU totalling for 9 TDs and you want to compare him to Russell? Now Big Ben doesnt have the moblity like Cam but anyone who knows football knows Big Ben is the best in the league at keeping a play alive because hes so hard to bring down. Cam also showed that trait this season at Auburn. I never once saw that with Russell.
Will he be as good as Big Ben? Doubt it but I guarntee he'll be closer to Big Ben then Russell in the NFL.

I think Gabbert and Locker are the QBs this draft who may end up being worth more than two hills of beans, so I would prefer the Vikings stay away from both of them. Gabbert, I think, we're safe on... he should be the first QB taken.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

I don't like Gabbert much. He has two strikes. He didn't play very well this year and he only had like 25 college starts. Also, his name is Blaine Gabbert. I just can't see somebody named Blaine Gabbert being a stud.
"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

I'm not sure why you thing a 63.4% completion percentage, with 3186 passing yards, 16 TDs, and only 9 INTs at a middling program without many other draftable players is "didn't play very well this year." Those aren't "you have to change your pants" numbers, but evaluating college QBs is seldom about the numbers, and 25 starts is 9 more than Mark Sanchez had.
I'll see your Blaine Gabbert and raise you Fran Tarkenton
