Aaron Rodgers' Great Game Against Falcons Means Little This Week

In looking back over the past 10 years, 13 quarterbacks have posted a 130-plus quarterback rating with 20 or more attempts in a playoff game. The names are just as illustrious as you would expect: Peyton Manning (three times), Kurt Warner (twice), Tom Brady (twice) and Brett Favre (twice) are the only quarterbacks to post more than one 130-plus playoff game over the past decade.

As you would expect, those teams were 13-0 in those games -- it's hard to lose if your quarterback is nearly flawless. But the hot hand didn't usually carry over until the next week. Those same quarterbacks went 3-9 the following week. And in many cases, it was their poor play that was at least in part to blame.

I wouldn't want her kicking me in the schnutz, but with those hot shoes she had I didn't mind watching her give it to that poor doofus.

So Rodgers better be looking forward to playing in the cold and not huddled up with his hands covering his pee-pee, waiting for the game to be over.

Aaron Rodgers has never won 3 playoff games in a row.

Jay Cutler has never lost a playoff game.

        Packers have no chance.

So I guess that fact that Rodgers followed a playoff game in which he had a passer rating of 122.5 with one the next week of 136.8 is meaningless to this blogger because Rogers didn't hit the "magic 130" against the Eagles?

His 121.4 rating last year is probably irrelevant too, I suppose? It doesn't indicate anything about Rogers elevating his game in playoffs, handling playoff pressure well, or anything like that.

Hey, let's face it. Bretsky's got a tough job tomorrow. I am just trying to lighten his load, not necessarily agreeing with the premise. 130 is a very high and completely arbitrary rating. Not to mention the fact that in the playoffs, QBs are likely to have quite a bit of variability in their numbers as they probably don't face two bad pass defenses in a row. And the opponent is completely out of their control.

And Patler is right, 122 versus the Iggles pass D might be a more impressive number than another 130 against a lesser D.

More for Bretsky, pay close attention to the lyrics starting at :36. I know its a bit dated, but I find the tune a bit hypnotic. Sounds like a soundtrack for an episode of Scrubs.

Wow. I tried, I really did. That song just sucks. Out of tune auto-tune? Sounds like a hybrid of They Might be Giants meets Weezer.
