I'm not saying Bailey is bad. I'm simply saying that he isn't top 5 anymore. I still think he is top 10, but some of the younger guys like Talib or Tramon are awful talented and entering their prime. Bailey is also clearly entering the downside of his career, while other guys are ascending. Denver faced a ton of crappy passing offenses this year. They only faced opponents that finished in the TOP HALF of the league in passing 4 times. That means 75% of their games were against inferior passing offenses. I would hope Champ had a "resurgence" against that kind of schedule. One of my better friends is a Broncos fan and his take is that Champ isn't the guy he was 3-4 years ago. Still very good and a great presence in the locker room, but no longer elite coming up on 33 years of age.
I'd take Bailey in Green Bay right now for a reasonable price. He's still going to be a capable starting corner for another 2-3 years, and I'm sure he'd love to play on our defense. It's such a GOOD feeling...13 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

I get your point, but I'm not talking about his long term future or any young budding stars. As of right now he is a top 5 corner. May not be the biggest name anymore ,but he has shut people down this year. He graded out as the highest in pass coverage this year according to profootballfocus which is a reputable site. Not too shabby if you ask me. A lot of people think he "fell" off because he was injured last year and didn't play that great.

Nah, not fast enough to be a gunner anymore. Put him in as PR/KROriginally posted by woodbuck27 View PostBrett Favre NEWS!!
Headline:
Favre re-signs with Packers
Ted Thompson reports that he's pleased to have Favre back in the fold. That he's expected to fill a vital role on ST's as a gunner.

Woodson is great, but he's nearing the end. I mean, how he got hurt was even a routine type play.
I agree with you that Woodson is nearing the end, but the routine play bit doesn't hold water. Shields was hurt on the routine play just before, and Sanders was hurt on a routine play for the Steelers earlier. Those two aren't exactly wizened veterans. As a Packer fan, you should know that injuries happen all the time, and don't necessarily show preference for aged veterans!
My position is that if the Packers can leverage Assomugga's desire to play for a winner into a non-crippling contract, they should do it. I'm certain Capers can find a way to get Woodson, Collins, Assomooga, Shields, and Williams on the field at the same time. As I mentioned before, this lineup would have a real chance at being able to effectively shut down an oppositions' passing game. What a weapon."Never, never ever support a punk like mraynrand. Nicks is famous (infamous?) for a live radio interview he gave after the Saints won the SuperBowl. Nicks blurted out "I'm going to motherfucking Disneyland"!Originally posted by Fritz View PostI like the idea of signing some of the Packers' own; but I also like the idea of having a guard named Carl "Stevie" Nicks.

If the heavens part and we have a legit chance to grab Aso, then by Nitschke, do it! You never pass on a dominate CB. Never ever ever ever. They make all the difference in the game. They instantly upgrade a defense. If we had Aso, we force teams to run. Do you know how absolutely crazy that sounds? We could have four pro bowl caliber defenders in our backfield.
You don't pass on that guy to pick up a tackle. A dominant proven CB? There's only one position I'd take over that, and that's QB and we're set there.- Once again, adding absolutely nothing to the conversation.

So giving Nate Clements a record contract is in large part responsible for the Niners recent success?Originally posted by Smeefers View PostIf the heavens part and we have a legit chance to grab Aso, then by Nitschke, do it! TT's record with CB's is interesting. He hit gold when he offered Woodson the big money. He hit gold with UDFA's Williams and Shields. He hit useless swampland when drafting Lee and Underwood.I can't run no more

With that five you could have one deep safety (Collins) let the other 4 cover and blitz 5 or 6 guys on every passing down. I like the sound of that! But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

You also have to remember in all of this that Collins and Woodson are great in run tacklers themselves - so even if we have all 5 on the field at once with another saftey (so 6 db's, 2 or 3 DL, 2 or 3 LB) we're not "screwed" if they try to run against it. Not sure what big A's tendencies are in the run game, but we have some DB's already that are pretty good there.
