That sounds great, but it works just fine for me. We are all drawing our own judgments about players we usually never met as fans with little data, so please jump off the moral high horse. I'm talking about first impressions, Vince. You have them too, no matter how morally righteous you think you are.

You have an impression of him too, Brandon. I'm guessing you haven't spent a bunch of time with him either. Hypocritical much?Originally posted by Brandon494 View PostDidnt realize you have met Cam Newton in real life to get your impresson on him, was he bigger than you imagined in person? Because it would be pretty dumb for you to get a impression off someone through the media.

That reminds me of the time I thought OJ was guilty. I'm still battling my white guilt over that one.

The difference is I have a opinion on his actually skills as a football player. Not on how smart someone is by how they look when the camera is on.Originally posted by get louder at lambeau View PostYou have an impression of him too, Brandon. I don't think one can discern a person's intelligence on their appearance. I've seen a couple of interviews of Newton and he didn't come across as dumb to me. He just sounded like a kid - which he is BTW.Originally posted by get louder at lambeau View PostI'm far from an expert on Newton, but I have a feeling he might be a little bit dumb. Not from his skin color, Brandon, but by the spazzy-puppy look on his face. Same kind of look as Jarrett Bush has.
I wouldn't lose much sleep if he went to Minnesota. I doubt he's the next Peyton Manning, and even if he ends up being a good one, it will probably take a few years. In the mean time, he'd be thrown into the fire of a desperate franchise with no QB, behind a questionable OL, in a division full of elite pass rushers. I could see the Packers' INT stats going up from playing Cam Newton twice a year this year and next.

The dumb look on his face, the dumb shit he says like "I view myself as an entertainer and icon", his arrest and suspension for burglary, larceny, and obstruction of justice, being caught for academic cheating three times at Florida, leading to him transferring to a junior college before he got expelled, the pay-for-play crap with Auburn and Daddy Newton that I'm sure Cam had NOTHING to do with...Originally posted by Brandon494 View PostThe difference is I have a opinion on his actually skills as a football player. Yeah, I'm really jumping to some crazy conclusions when I say I get the feeling he might be dumb, huh? I should probably be ashamed of myself. How judgmental of me.
Here's the story on the stolen laptop, for those who are interested. Must be racist cops.-
And here's the racist report of him getting caught cheating academically three times before he transferred to a junior college-
How could I possibly have jumped to such unfounded conclusions about someone I've never met? I'm such a bad person. It's all probably just because I can't see past his skin color.Last edited by get louder at lambeau; 04-08-2011, 10:16 AM.

That last post is quite a tune change from your earlier statements Louder.Originally posted by get louder at lambeau View PostHow could I possibly have jumped to such unfounded conclusions about someone I've never met? I agree with the points you made in this post - his activities belay a personality that believes that because of his status as an elite athelete, he's beyond reproach, and water will continue to bead off his back. That's a good argument.
The statement that you can tell what a guy is going to be like simply by watching them, under the glare of the lights for a few minutes is a little harder to swallow. Personally, I present very poorly at first impression. I get nervous and smile and talk too much, sometimes even shake a bit. I speak with what I think is a pronounced lisp. Those things don't help you present yourself as an intelligent person, but I've got an engineering degree from Canada's premiere engineering program.--

Why do you keep bringing up race on every post like I've accused you of something? You and Skin are annoying as shit. Yea the dude has a shakey character but you stated earlier that you thought he was unintelligent but the expressions, not by his actions which IMO made you sound ignorant as shit.Originally posted by get louder at lambeau View PostThe dumb look on his face, the dumb shit he says like "I view myself as an entertainer and icon", his arrest and suspension for burglary, larceny, and obstruction of justice, being caught for academic cheating three times at Florida, leading to him transferring to a junior college before he got expelled, the pay-for-play crap with Auburn and Daddy Newton that I'm sure Cam had NOTHING to do with...

Plenty of intelligent people don't have great social skills. Look at TT, for example. Being socially awkward is actually a stereotypical attribute of "nerds", who are intelligent by definition.Originally posted by Guiness View PostThat last post is quite a tune change from your earlier statements Louder.

So far, my very limited interaction with you has given me a generally positive impression of you. To just assume that you would leave me with a wrong impression that you are dumb based on your own self-conscious interpretation of how you generally come across to people is unfair.
My judgment of Newton is based on the little I know of him. The dumb, overconfident spazz look on his face is part of it, but is not the only thing I am basing my impression on. I know more about him than that, but that look is a telling sign to me. He looks dumb to me. His words and actions seem dumb to me.
The below average Wonderlic score that Brandon provided in his defense only backs my impression up. The only projected 2010 starting QBs (from an article from last March) with a Wonderlich score at or below Newton's 21 are Bruce Gradkowski, Vince Young, Donovan McNabb, and David Garrard. The average score for Super Bowl winning QBs over the last 8 years is 31, a full 10 points higher than Newton's score.
Whether you like how I got my impression of Newton or not, the evidence as of right now seems to point to me being right about his intelligence or lack thereof. Like it or not, my quick judgments have served me very well.Last edited by get louder at lambeau; 04-08-2011, 11:16 AM.

Um, Brandon? This thread has been about racism against Newton from the very first post. That's why I bring up racism when there is something negative about him- because I think it's fucking stupid that Moon said that, and that you defended him for it, and I'm mocking it.Originally posted by Brandon494 View PostWhy do you keep bringing up race on every post like I've accused you of something? I consider myself a very good judge of character. Nothing ignorant about it. I'm good at it. Better at it than most, by far, IMO. It has served me very well in life. Maybe mentioning his dumbshit facial expression comes off wrong, but you can get a lot from looking into someone's eyes if you pay attention. Facial expression and body language can say more than words in many cases.

I had a caged racoon try to eat the muzzle of my gun before I put his brains out the back of his head. Does that mean he wanted to die?Originally posted by get louder at lambeau View PostThe eye is the window of the soul, the mouth the door. Realistically, how am I supposed to be able to make a judgment of that when I never even met that raccoon, or spent time in that cage? That would be very unfair and ignorant of me.
