    BART STARR ADDRESSES THE TEAM

    By Dylan B. Tomlinson
    Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers

Former Packers quarterback and coach Bart Starr attended Wednesday morning's practice and was scheduled to address the team, at coach Mike McCarthy's request.

"It's an honor to have Bart here," McCarthy said.

"He's going to speak to our team today and talk about the history and tradition of the Green Bay Packers, so we're all looking forward to that."

With so many young players on the team, McCarthy said the players can benefit from learning about the Packers' tradition by listening to someone who played such a large role in helping the franchise become what it is today.

"I'm very big on education," McCarthy said.

"I think it's a very big part of what we can put in front of our players and coaches, and to have the opportunity to have Bart Starr come in and talk about the history and tradition, I think that speaks for itself."

i don't know if they do this or not, but i think it should be mandatory that the team goes through the HOF as a group too. bart would have been the perfect guy to lead the tour

I made this up and sported it in my sig as soon as M3 was hired. I wonder if I can take credit for the M3 name?

This absolutely should be a prerequisite before putting on the Packer uniform !

When I was a high school student many years ago, Bart Starr was the guest speaker at our school's athletic banquet. I was highly impressed by the charismatic and personal qualities of this man. He gave a most inspirational speech.

I also fondly recall that I was able to shake hands with the man after the banquet.
